Deputies search for man missing since Saturday

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Deputies are asking for the public’s help to find a man who they said was last seen on Saturday and apparently crashed his vehicle on Sunday. Detectives are combing the roads for any sign of Kevin P. Markey, who they said suffers from a mental health disorder.

Markey, 67, of the 2200 block of 13th Street Southwest in southern Indian River County, was last seen by a family member about 11 a.m. Saturday. Deputies located Markey’s crashed, abandoned vehicle on Sunday near 12th Street and 20th Avenue in Vero Beach, more than 3 miles north of his residence.

Markey’s family reported him missing on Tuesday, said Sgt. Kevin Jaworski, a spokesperson for the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office. Sheriff’s officials posted a flyer on social media Tuesday asking for the public’s help to locate Markey.

Sheriff’s officials said Markey was last seen wearing a pink and blue-striped button-down shirt and unknown-colored pants. Deputies described Markey as 5-feet 11-inches tall, weighing 185 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.

Those with information on Markey’s whereabouts should contact sheriff’s Det. Chris Scribner at 772-978-6240 or cscribner@ircsheriff.org.
