James David Richardson, 80, Vero Beach
November 27, 1943 – October 10, 2024
James David Richardson, 80, of Vero Beach, Florida, passed away on October 10, 2024. He was born on November 27, 1943, in South Boston, Virginia, and his family lived on a farm between Pittsylvania and Halifax counties. He was the son of Rosser Daniel and Lucille VanAntwerp Richardson.
At the age of three, James moved to Vero Beach, where he later graduated from Vero Beach High School, Class of 1961. Following high school, he attended Florida State University where he earned his undergraduate degree, then served in the U.S. Army, and later obtained his law degree from University of Florida Law School. James began his career working at Piper, then by serving with the Florida Department of Transportation, and later as most of his career an attorney for the Internal Revenue Service in Washington, D.C.
Throughout his life, James lived mostly in Vero Beach, FL and Springfield, VA., also briefly Fayetteville, NC; Gainsville, FL, and Baton Rouge, LA. He married Carolyn Ann Osterhout on December 30, 1966, and together they raised two children: Charles Richardson and Alice Richardson Kimbrough, who is married to Chris Kimbrough. James took great pride in his role as a grandfather to Luke, Megan, and Raymond, and he cherished his relationships with his cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Marie Richardson Forsman; his brother, Troy Richardson; and is survived by his sister-in-law, Elsie Richardson.
A committed community member, James served as a Deacon and Trustee at Mt. Calvary Community Church (Alexandria, VA), and volunteered on the Vero Beach City Council and the Code Enforcement Board. He enjoyed singing, traveling, and exploring historical sites.
James will be remembered for his keen sense of humor, kindness, and dedication to family. A funeral service will be held at Cox Gifford Seawinds Funeral Home on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at 1:00PM. Burial in Crestlawn Cemetery will follow the service. Charlotte Marie Caudill, 77, Vero Beach
November 25, 1946 – October 15, 2024
In Loving Memory of Charlotte Marie Caudill
Charlotte Marie Caudill, 77, of Vero Beach, FL, peacefully went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 15, 2024. She was born to the late Milo and Annie Miller on November 25th, 1946, in Fort Pierce, FL.
A devoted wife, mother, sister and friend. She was the wife of Roy Joel Caudill, with whom she shared 58 years of marriage. Together, they had three children, Lamar Joel, Roy Duane and Rhonda Michelle. She was predeceased by her cherished Son, Lamar Joel Caudill, whom she now joins in eternal rest.
Charlotte was also a loving sister to Milo James Miller, Mary Anne Pervis who predeceased her, Joseph Clinton Miller, Martha Louise Cooler and Richard Benjamin Miller. She dedicated her life to her family, always placing their needs above her own, and created a home filled with warmth and love.
She will be deeply missed by her surviving husband, Roy Joel Caudill, children, Roy Duane (Melissa) Caudill and Rhonda Michelle (Andreas) Svensson, extended family, and friends who will forever remember her strength, and unwavering devotion.
A private family service will be held on October 30th at Cox Gifford Seawinds Funeral Home

Alfred John Tillman, 91, Vero Beach
January 15, 1933 – October 15, 2024
Alfred John Tillman died in Vero Beach, Florida on October 15, 2024 at the age of 91. Al was born on January 15, 1933 in Suffern, New York to Edward S. and Hazel (McKechnie) Tillman. He often reminised about growing up on a 19-acre farm on Montebello Road in Suffern. The only tough time was when he caught rheumatic fever in ninth grade and ended up bedridden for 5 months. Al graduated from Suffern High School in 1950 and studied at Cornell University where he joined the Triangle Fraternity and earned his bachellors degree in Mechanical Engineering. Later he received his masters at Stevens Institute of Technology.
In 1959 Al broke his leg skiing at Stowe, Vermont. While still on crutches friends urged him to attend the Short Hills Ski Club. He caught the eye of the love of his life, Miriam Hedden, and they were married the following year.
Al worked as a mechanical engineer his entire career. He worked for Kodak in Rochester NY, Reaction Motors in Denville NJ, Marotta Scientific Controls in Boonton NJ, Combustion Engineering in Windsor CT, and Carlton Technologies (a subsidiary of Moog) in Elma NY and Tampa FL. He designed valves for aerospace and maritime projects.
Al and Miriam lived in Mt Tabor NJ, North Granby CT, Orchard Park NY, and Temple Terrace FL always making the best of where they lived. They also built a vacation home at Beebe Pond VT and went on many daytrips hiking, skiing and visiting attractions around northern New England and upstate New York. When they retired they lived full-time in an RV, touring the US and spending time with their children in Massachusetts, Virginia and Florida. They then settled in Vero Beach FL where they both lived for the rest of their days.
Al enjoyed skiing, tennis, hiking, boating, traveling, birding, playing bridge, reading, and being with family. When he retired he digitized and edited thousands of images and is known for his unique photoshopped greeting cards. He will be remembered for always making the best of every situation, enjoying life, exploring places, being humble, having a fun sense of humor, offering grace, and loving family.
Al was predeceased by his wife Miriam. He is survived by three children, four grandchildren, and a sister.
Services will be held in Virginia on November 16, 2024.

Perry Charles Lane, Jr., 84, Vero Beach
September 22, 1940 – October 12, 2024
Perry Charles Lane, Jr., 84, of Vero Beach, Florida, passed away on October 12, 2024. He was born on September 22, 1940, in Warren, Ohio, to the late Perry Charles Lane and Verla Tryon Lane.
Perry is survived by his beloved wife, Joann; sons David Lane and his wife Ellen, and John Lane and his partner Shannon Bragg; grandchildren Ashley Lane and Abigail Lane; step-grandchildren Tiffany, Lisa, and Ricky Wilton; and Shannon’s children, Logan and Morgan Bragg.
Early in his career, Perry worked in the space industry at Cape Canaveral, Florida, where he met Joann, the love of his life. After relocating to Texas, he learned the title insurance business. In 1977, they returned to Vero Beach, where Perry founded his own title insurance company, Security Title.
He was an active member of the First Methodist Church of Vero Beach and participated in their Pairs & Spares Sunday School Class. Additionally, he served as a past president of The Exchange Club in Vero Beach.
Perry cherished time spent with family and friends at their cabin on Blue Cypress Lake, where they enjoyed fishing and boating. A true car enthusiast, he had a passion for Corvettes and was an avid coin collector. He also enjoyed golfing in his free time.
A memorial service to celebrate Perry’s life will be held on Monday, November 4, 2024, at 11 AM at Cox Gifford Seawinds Funeral Home, with a reception to follow.

Sharon R. Rayner, 80
November 9, 1943 – October 25, 2024
Sharon R. Rayner, 80 passed away October 25, 2024, after a short illness. She was born November 9, 1943, in Niagara Falls, NY. She had retired from the American Red Cross in Vero Beach, Florida after many years of service as director of emergency services. Her previous years of work were in Syracuse, New York included Supervisor for Mutual of New York, and later Niagara Mohawk power company.
Her jobs let her be a volunteer for the American Red Cross before retiring from both and becoming a full-time employee for the American Red Cross in Vero Beach. Her many assignments as an American Red Cross volunteer and employee were many. The mass feeding of the first responders after 91 1 in NYC, and wildfires in Colorado, Earthquake in California among many.
She was a member of St. Augustine Canterbury Episcopal Church where she was a member of the Vespiary.
She was predeceased by her parents, Robert and Ruth Rayner and her sister Carolyn Rayner, she is survived by her sister Marilyn (Donald) Thompson of Cato, NY niece Kathy (Derrick ) Stewart and nephew Christopher Streich of Riverview, Florida. She will be missed by her many friends and colleagues.
A memorial service will be held at a later date at the discretion of the family as she will be buried in Cato Union Hill Cemetery with her sister Carolyn.
