UWIRC: We’re Grateful for Your Support

We want to take a moment to express our deepest gratitude for your incredible generosity. Thanks to your support, we’ve been able to meet the immediate needs of those affected by Hurricane Milton. Our community’s kindness and compassion have made an enormous difference!

However, the extent of the damage is significant. Fifty-one homes were destroyed by tornadoes, and the county estimates damages are around $59 million—and those figures are expected to grow as more assessments come in. As we continue to evaluate the situation, we recognize that the road to recovery is especially challenging for families in our ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) population. These hardworking households often live paycheck to paycheck, and the hurricane has pushed them into even more difficult circumstances. Many missed work due to business closures or childcare needs, while others stretched their budgets to prepare for the storm, only to lose those supplies to storm damage.

As we move into long-term recovery, we need your support in critical areas to help these families fully rebuild. While supplies are crucial, financial donations allow us to provide:

Your contributions to the United Way Disaster Recovery Fund will directly impact families in need, giving them the resources to stabilize their lives and come back stronger.

Thank you for standing with us during this challenging time. With your continued support, we’ll help our community recover and rebuild, ensuring no one is left behind.

Warmly,

Meredith Egan
