The Space Coast Symphony presents “Red Carpet Film Scores” Sunday afternoon at the Vero Beach High School Performing Arts Center. Expect music that will evoke movie moments including those from “Lord of the Rings,” “The Wizard of Oz,” “Schindler’s List,” “Jaws,” “Titanic,” “Star Wars,” “The Producers,” “Lawrence of Arabia,” “The Lion King” and much more. The concert begins at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 20, at the Vero Beach High School Performing Arts Center, 1707 16th St. Tickets are $35 in advance or $40 at the door. There will be a “Dinner and Ghost Hunt” to benefit the Indian River County Historical Society Saturday evening at the Hallstrom House in Vero Beach. Organizers say this event is not a “typical ghost tour.” The event will take guests on a journey through time as they learn facts and stories of the Hallstrom House’s property and history. After dinner, the ghost hunt will be led by Larry Lawson of Indian River Hauntings. He will lead teams as they explore several locations believed to be haunted. Organizers stress not to arrive before 6:15 p.m. The dinner and ghost hunt runs from 7 p.m. to midnight Saturday, Oct. 19, at the Hallstrom House, 1723 Old Dixie Highway SW, Vero Beach. Tickets are $125. Seating is limited. For more information call 772-633-3955.

There shouldn’t be anything educational nor spooky about the Vero Beach Oktoberfest. Instead, expect good old fun and lots of German food and beer under a 15,000-square-foot Beer Garden Tent – aka “Biergarten.” There will also be a full liquor bar, retail vendors and a kids’ zone. The music will be performed live by authentic groups including Ida Mann & die Haus Band, Alex Meixner and Band, the Sunshine State Express Polka Band, and, from Nashville, the “Wurst Band in Music City.” The event runs this weekend at the Indian River County Fairgrounds, 7955 58th Ave., Vero Beach. Hours are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 20. Admission is $5 with those under 13 admitted free. Free same-day re-entry all day and night. RV Camping at the festival starts at $80 per night. No dogs allowed unless they are legal handicap-assist animals. For more information, visit VeroBeachOktoberfest.com.
