The Space Coast Symphony presents “Red Carpet Film Scores” Sunday afternoon at the Vero Beach High School Performing Arts Center. The Space Coast Symphony will also present a concert for children with “Back to the Watering Hole.” The concert features music from “The Lion King,” “The Adventures of Tin Tin,” “The Croods,” “Zootopia,” “Jungle Book,” “Madagascar,” “Jaws” and even Handel’s “Water Music.” National best-selling author Michele Wallace Campanelli wrote “Music at the Watering Hole.” It concerns Kojo the Lion discovering a box of musical instruments that had fallen off a tourist bus near his watering hole. There will be a “Dinner and Ghost Hunt” to benefit the Indian River County Historical Society Saturday evening at the Hallstrom House in Vero Beach. Organizers say this event is not a “typical ghost tour.” The event will take guests on a journey through time as they learn facts and stories of the Hallstrom House’s property and history. After dinner, the ghost hunt will be led by Larry Lawson of Indian River Hauntings. He will lead teams as they explore several locations believed to be haunted. Organizers stress not to arrive before 6:15 p.m. The dinner and ghost hunt runs from 7 p.m. to midnight Saturday, Oct. 19, at the Hallstrom House, 1723 Old Dixie Highway SW, Vero Beach. There shouldn’t be anything educational nor spooky about the Vero Beach Oktoberfest. Instead, expect good old fun and lots of German food and beer under a 15,000-square-foot Beer Garden Tent – aka “Biergarten.” There will also be a full liquor bar, retail vendors and a kids’ zone. The music will be performed live by authentic groups including Ida Mann & die Haus Band, Alex Meixner and Band, the Sunshine State Express Polka Band, and, from Nashville, the “Wurst Band in Music City.” The event runs this weekend at the Indian River County Fairgrounds, 7955 58th Ave., Vero Beach. Hours are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 20. Admission is $5 with those under 13 admitted free. Free same-day re-entry all day and night. The “Fairways for Families Golf Tournament” will be held Monday morning, Oct. 21, at the Bent Pine Golf Club. The event raises funds for the Hope for Families Center expansion.
