Giving a nod to the City of Sebastian’s year-long Centennial Celebration, the Sebastian River Area Chamber of Commerce hosted its own “party of the century” at the Polish American Social Club, combining a Roaring Twenties Gala with its 31st Annual Lifestyle and Media Auction fundraiser.

Taking a step back in time to the age of jazz and decadent luxury, flappers decked out in feathers shimmied alongside dapper gentlemen in fedoras, and all had a blast at the casino tables as they sipped on cocktails from a prohibition-era speakeasy.

“This is our biggest fundraiser of the year. It helps us pay our salaries and keep the membership cost down,” said Cheryl Thibault, Sebastian Chamber president and CEO.

The gala portion of the evening featured a photo booth, costume contest, music and dancing.

And the Lifestyle and Media Auction featured live and silent auctions of items such as radio, print and website advertising; marketing and printing packages; and assorted lifestyle packages.

Proceeds from the event will play a crucial role in supporting the chamber’s mission to foster a healthy business environment, promote tourism growth, and enhance the overall quality of life in the community.

“In the spirit of the Roaring Twenties, we raise a champagne toast to Sebastian’s rich history and vibrant future,” said Thibault.

On Dec. 6, the Sebastian River Area of Commerce will host Light Up Night, with the business community kicking off the holiday season by opening its doors to residents and visitors with festive decorations, refreshments, holiday goodies and specials.

The City of Sebastian’s 100th Anniversary celebration culminates on Dec. 8 at Riverview Park.
