Help Us “Clear the Shelter” on August 24th- Humane Society of Vero Beach

Humane Society teams up with NBCUniversal Local to host Clear the Shelter Day on August 24th

(Vero Beach, Florida) – The Humane Society of Vero Beach & Indian River County (HSVB) is excited to partner with NBCUniversal Local for their 10th annual Clear the Shelter pet adoption event on Saturday, August 24, 2024.

Each year, this national pet adoption campaign partners with hundreds of animal rescues and shelters across the United States, District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and Guam to help find loving homes for animals in need. Since 2015, the Clear the Shelter Day initiative has helped more than one million pets find their forever home.

In support of this national day of action, the Humane Society of Vero Beach & Indian River County will waive adoption fees for dogs, cats, and all other adoptable animals in our care on August 24th.  Animals will be adopted on a first-come, first-serve basis and adoptions will include: spay/neuter, up-to-date age-appropriate vaccines, a microchip, a take home starter bag, a cardboard carrier (for cats), and a collar and leash (for dogs).

“This fun event is an opportunity for our community to give compassionate and caring homes to over hundred animals.” said Liz Smokowski, chief executive officer at the Humane Society of Vero Beach & Indian River County. “Together, we are having an impact on animal homelessness.”

The event also includes prizes, give-a-ways, and Kona Ice will supply deliciously cold icy treats, with proceeds benefiting the animals in the shelter.

The Clear the Shelter event will take place at the Humane Society, located at 6230 77th Street, Vero Beach, and hours on August 24, 2024 will be 10:00 a.m. until the last pet is adopted (or 4:00 p.m.). HSVB will be closed on Friday, August 23rd in preparation for this event. Animals available for adoption can be viewed on our website, www.hsvb.org the week of the event.
