Shirley Faye O’Neal, 85

September 14, 1938 – June 27, 2024

Shirley’s Obituary:

Shirley Faye O’Neal (Davis), 85, passed away on June 27, 2024 after a decline in her health. Shirley was born on September 14, 1938 in Leesville, Louisiana, to parents, Hiram and Lottie Davis. She had 3 siblings; brothers, Adolph Davis (deceased), Roy Davis (deceased), and sister, Narlene O’Neal.

She leaves behind her loving husband of 67 years, Edward J. O’Neal, 3 children: Edward J. O’Neal, Jr. and his wife, Meghan, of Lawrenceville, GA, Pamela Faye Van Antwerp and her husband, Steve, of Vero Beach, FL, and Stace L. Everhart of Ocala, FL. She was an Awesome grandmother to Michael Van Antwerp, Colby Everhart, Brandon Van Antwerp, Quinton Everhart, and Kay Van Antwerp. She was a wonderful great-grandmother to Aiden Van Antwerp, Austin Van Antwerp, Jaelyn Everhart, Peyton Everhart, and Paisley Everhart. She definitely spoiled us all…

She worked as a Hairdresser all her life and worked at a couple of different shops in Vero until she was able to buy her own shop with business partner and friend, Letha Rhodes. The shop was Treasure Coast Beauty Salon located in the Miracle Mile in Vero. She was a great hairdresser and loved her clients, which definitely consisted of her family too. She eventually retired as they sold the shop after 30 years of being in business.

She was all about Family. She was an amazing cook, southern food was her specialty, and loved to have everyone over to visit and eat, of course. You definitely didn’t leave her house hungry.

I’m not sure how you are supposed to summarize 85 years of a wonderful woman into an obituary. She was an amazing woman. She loved to cook, shop, listen to old style country music, and spend time with her family. She touched many lives with her loving character, quick wit, and generosity. She was the “Heart and Soul” of this Family; who we all loved very much…

Dolores T. Elie, 86, Sebastian

March 25, 1938 – June 26, 2024

Dolores (Dolly) Elie (Vandal) – Dolly passed away unexpectedly in her Sebastian FL home on Wednesday 6/26/24.  Dolly was born in Grafton, MA on March 25, 1938, where she resided for 60 years before leaving the brutal New England winters behind.

She is predeceased by her loving husband of 61 years, Gilles (Gil) Elie.  She leaves behind 3 children, Kevin Elie of Thompson CT, Joyce Brousseau and her husband Mark of Oakham MA, and Janet Elie of Vero Beach FL.  She was a grandmother to Amanda LaPete and her husband Anthony, Jamie Brousseau and his wife Courtney, Holly Hargrove and her husband Brian, Cody Smith, Sharissa Elie, and Katelyn Sherman and her husband David.  A great grandmother of almost 22 years to Serena LaPete, Ian LaPete, Willamine Brousseau, Theodore Brousseau, Cayden Hargrove, Harper Hargrove, Mikayala Hargrove, Adelaide Allen, Hope Elie, Kason Elie, and Faith Elie.  She loved to spoil all of the kids.

She lived a very full life full of cruises, camping trips, beach trips, concerts in the park, tag sales, shopping, and going out to eat.  She wrote everything down.  She could tell you how much it cost for her entire honeymoon or any of her kids’ weddings, every Knick knack has the date she bought it written on the bottom.  She enjoyed cooking and baking, often trying out new recipes.

Her last few years back in Sebastian brought her joy sitting by the river, watching the birds, the waves, and the people.  It’s there that she met many people and their pets that she’d chat with daily.

I’m not sure how you are supposed to sum up 86 years into a reasonably lengthened obituary.  She touched many lives, had a loving family, was up for adventure, loved surprises, loved all things iridescent or sparkly, enjoyed seeing Christmas lights during the Christmas season, she would not leave home without her lipstick and rouge.  She’d keep up with family across the country with social media and looked forward to pictures of everyone.   She played Words with Friends so much that she burned the image into her phone screen.  She loved seeing her family have fun.  She didn’t always go in the ocean, but she loved going to watch her family have fun and enjoy the warm sun and ocean breeze.

Arrangements entrusted to Strunk Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1623 North Central Avenue, Sebastian, Florida 32958.
