VERO BEACH, June 17, 2024 – United Way of Indian River County is gearing up for its 29th Annual Day of Caring, a day that epitomizes the spirit of volunteerism and community collaboration. This signature event brings together local businesses, nonprofits, and community members for a single day of impactful volunteer work aimed at making a difference in our community.
This year’s Day of Caring will take place on Saturday, October 26, 2024, starting with a kick-off breakfast at the newly renovated Holman Stadium at the Jackie Robinson Training Complex. United Way is now calling on organizations to submit their project ideas for this exciting day.
“Day of Caring is a powerful reminder of what we can achieve when we come together,” said Meredith Egan, CEO of United Way of Indian River County. “We are thrilled to invite organizations to submit projects that will benefit from the enthusiastic support of our community volunteers. This event is more than just a day of service; it’s a chance to build stronger connections and leave a lasting positive impact.”
Project Ideas
United Way encourages submissions of a wide variety of projects that align with its mission to enhance lives and strengthen communities. Examples of eligible projects include:
- Beautification efforts in parks and public spaces
- Renovation or construction support for community facilities
- Food drives and meal preparation assistance
- Administrative and clerical tasks for nonprofit organizations

United Way will support each organization throughout the planning process, from project coordination to volunteer recruitment and logistics, ensuring a smooth and successful event. Organizations do not need to be current partners of United Way to apply.

All nonprofits, churches, and schools in Indian River County are invited to be part of this transformative day. To submit a project, visit United Way’s website at UnitedWayIRC.org/DOC. The deadline for submissions is Friday, August 30, 2024, so be sure to act quickly!
