Alice Hollingsworth Douberley, 80, Vero Beach

Alice Hollingsworth Douberley, age 80, peacefully departed this earthly life at the VNA Hospice House in Vero Beach on Thursday, May 9, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.
Alice was born November 7, 1943, to Violet and John Hollingsworth in Cookeville, Tennessee. Alice moved shortly afterward to Avon Park, Florida, where she lived a full, loving, family-oriented upbringing as the youngest sister of three.
Alice graduated from Avon Park High School, earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of South Florida, and her Master of Education from Florida Atlantic University. She retired from the Indian River County School District as a middle school teacher.
A Christian since childhood, Alice had a strong faith and was a member of the Roseland United Methodist Church. She loved reading and fostered it in family members with her many gifts of books. She enjoyed genealogy and studying her family history, using her skills to help others in their research. Alice also enjoyed travel, gardening, and especially her “pups” whom she spoiled. A person who enjoyed both her home and Christmas, she was known to decorate a wee bit too much during the holidays.
Alice is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Tommy Douberley of Sebastian, Florida; three children: Sherrie (Rick) Matthews of Sebastian, FL, Susan (Ronnie) Slade of Vero Beach, FL and Greg (Brandy) Douberley of Owasso, OK; grandchildren: Ryan (Erin) Matthews, Kristopher (Allison) Matthews, Sarah Douberley, Abby Douberley, and great grandchild Finn Matthews, along with many in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Violet and John Hollingsworth, brother James Williams, and sister Doris Bush.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Alice at the Roseland United Methodist Church, 12962 Roseland Road, Sebastian, FL 32958 on Sunday, June 9, 2024, at 2:00 p.m.

Michael Joseph Pape, 66
October 02, 1957 – May 13, 2024
Michael Joseph Pape, 66 years old, passed away on May 13, 2024, in Vero Beach, Florida.
Michael was born in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania and graduated from Meyers High School, class of 1975.
He joined the Air Force in 1976, where he became a Tactical Aircraft Maintenance Specialist serving 4 years and achieving the rank of Sergeant. Michael received many accommodations throughout his military career, to include the Air Force Good Conduct Medal, Air Force Longevity Award, and Air Force Outstanding Unit Award.
After leaving the military, Michael received his A & P license. He went to work at Sikorsky (now Lockheed-Martin) in West Palm Beach for 29 years, retiring in 2018 as a Senior Technical Training Instructor. (AKA: “Pape University”).
Michael was an avid reader. He read anything and everything historical. He loved watching NCIS, and he loved attending Air Shows. Most of all, Michael enjoyed spending time with his grandson Daniel, Jr., whom he loved dearly. Michael was very patriotic.
The survivors include his loving wife Angie Pape, son Ross Pape, stepsons Daniel Finley and Jason Finley (Courtney), sister Lucille Larkin (Frank), brothers Robert Pape, and Richard Pape (Wendy), grandson Daniel Finley Jr., and many loving nieces and nephews.
Michael was preceded in death: by his father Frederick D. Pape, Sr., mother Rita G. Finneghan Pape, brother Frederick D. Pape, Jr., sister Mary Patricia Pape, and sister-in-law Kandis Pape.
A gathering, open to friends and family, will be held 12:00 p.m.-1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 25, 2024 at Thomas S. Lowther Funeral Home & Crematory. A Memorial Service will follow begining at 1:00 p.m. at Thomas S. Lowther Funeral Home & Crematory.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the Charity of your choice in Memory of Michael Pape.
