OCALA, Fla. – The Black Southern Women’s Collaborative today announced that one of its members, the Rev. Rhonda Thomas, has received an Honorary Doctorate of Divinity Degree from Ocala Theological Seminary, also known as Second Bethlehem Theological Seminary. The honorary degree was awarded on May 23 in recognition of Thomas’ many years of ministry and service to humanity.
“I am delighted to receive this recognition,” Thomas said. “I thought I was going solely to deliver a commencement address, and it is a blessing to be honored for work that is deeply personal and meaningful.”
Thomas is the executive director of Faith in Florida, and a member of the Black Southern Women’s Collaborative. She was also the architect of a toolkit to help congregations teach Black History.
