VERO BEACH, May 13, 2024 – On April 27th, the United Way of Indian River County celebrated another successful edition of its longstanding tradition, the 38th Annual Citrus Golf Tournament, held at Sandridge Golf Club. Enthusiastic participants from across the community gathered to support United Way’s initiatives while enjoying a day of camaraderie and friendly competition on the greens.
This year’s championship belonged to Fredd Poppe and his talented team, securing the top spot in the scramble. Additional awards were presented to outstanding teams, with the winners in each flight including Team Lawn & LeBlanc Law Group and Team Warren Capital Management, alongside the recipients of the coveted “Closest to the Pin” and “Longest Drive”.
United Way extends heartfelt gratitude to all who joined in making the 38th Annual Citrus Golf Tournament a resounding success. The event was made possible through the collective generosity of our dedicated sponsors: Platinum Sponsor, Gould Cooksey Fennell and Gold Sponsors, Bernard A. Egan Foundation and The Hill Group, whose unwavering support continues to drive positive change within the community.
A sincere appreciation is extended to Sandridge Golf Club for graciously hosting this year’s tournament, providing a picturesque backdrop for the day’s festivities. Special recognition is also extended to Co-Chairs Rusty Banack and Martin Bireley for their exceptional leadership and commitment to the event’s success.
Capturing the spirit of the day, Vero Beach Social Media documented the memorable moments, including the excitement when the winner of the cooler raffle generously donated their prize back to the cause and ignited a spirited auction that further contributed to the fundraising efforts. United Way extends a special acknowledgment to the enthusiastic auctioneer, Frank Sirico, whose efforts helped elevate the event’s impact.
Reflecting on the event’s significance, Sydney Mihailoff, Relationship Development Manager, remarked, “The Citrus Golf Tournament stands as a testament to the unwavering spirit of community. Every participant’s involvement made a significant impact on the educational, health, and financial stability needs of the most vulnerable members of our community through United Way. We are incredibly grateful for their support!”
