Grand Harbor’s Marco Osorio Brings Home Silver Medal at US Open Pickleball Championships

Vero Beach, FL – This year’s edition of the US Open Pickleball Championship was played in Naples, Florida from April 13th – April 21st, 2024. With more than 3,250 players from 31 different countries and over 50,000 spectators, the US Open Pickleball Championship is undoubtedly the most prestigious tournament in the sport.

Vero Beach was represented at the US Open Pickleball Championships with Marco Osorio, Grand Harbor Golf & Beach Club’s Director of Sports as well as long-time Vero resident. The US Open Pickleball Championship also featured local stars Ivan Lendl and Mikael Pernfors.

Osorio won the Silver Medal in Singles in the Pro Senior Division, having defeated the world ranked #2 and #4 players on the road to the final. A fascinating fact about Osorio’s feat is that he managed to accomplish all this in his very first professional pickleball tournament ever.

Osorio is no stranger to big stage competition, having played professional tennis back in the 1990s with some of his biggest career wins over Roger Federer, as well as the Bryan Brothers. Marco boasts a rich array of achievements, including participation in the prestigious Davis Cup, coaching high-performance players across all levels, and accumulating over 50 professional tournament appearances.

On top of Osorio’s feat, two of Grand Harbor’s County Pickleball Teams are headed to the National Championship after having won the State and Regionals in Orlando on April 27th – 29th, 2024.
