Bernard Ira Kinney, 82, Sebastian

July 1, 1941 – March 1, 2024

Bernard Ira Kinney, 82 of Sebastian, Fl died Friday, March 1st 2024 with his family by his side.
He was born to the late Elva Kingsbury and Ira Kinney on July 1, 1941 in Houlton, Maine. Bernard graduated from Waterville High School in 1961. He married Rose Marie Thibeau in 1962, and they lived together in Maine before moving to Florida.  They retired in Sebastian, Fl in 2020.

Bernard was a poultry farmer at age 15 and later became a home builder and carpenter while living in Vassalboro, Maine.

Bernard is survived by his wife Rose of 61 years, his sons Bernard and Michael, Michael’s wife Analiza, and three boys, Christopher, Michael Jr., and Robert.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 PM, Saturday, March 9, 2024 at Seawinds Funeral Home in Sebastian. A Celebration of Bernard’s Life will follow.

Marilyn T. Amico, 85, Vero Beach

February 26, 1939 – March 2, 2024

It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of Marilyn T. Amico. She passed away peacefully on March 2, 2024, at the VNA Hospice House in Vero Beach, Florida. Marilyn was surrounded by her family and friends, including Tommy Amico, Emanuel Rios, Sam Romano, Terry Sofia Horning, Carol Carusotti, Karen Carusotti Taylor, and Michael Hamilton.

Marilyn was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Her loving husband of 62 years, Sam Amico, and daughter Tina Amico preceded her in death, along with her parents Sam and Josephine Romano, her brothers Joe and Tony Romano, as well as many other loving family members and friends.

Marilyn leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and compassion that will continue to live on. Marilyn is survived by her son Thomas Amico and his wife Diane Amico, her grandsons Emanuel Rios, Jacob Schwarz, Cris Amico, and her granddaughters Avorie Rios, Jamie Schwarz, and Toni Schwarz, as well as her brother Sam Romano. She also has four great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and many cousins.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM, Friday, March 15, 2024 at Saint Sebastian Church in Sebastian, Florida. A gathering will follow her funeral at Breezy Village Club House, 9600 96th Way, Sebastian, FL 32958.

J. Donald Garlick, 90

June 16, 1933 – March 3, 2024

John was born on June 16, 1933 in Providence, Rhode Island, the son of Frank and Anne Garlick. J. Donald Garlick passed away on March 3, 2024

He attended schools in Providence. Donald entered the Navy in July of 1950 and became a Navy Diver in 1954 and a Master Diver in 1965. Don dove in the warm waters of Key West, Florida to the freezing waters of Newfoundland, Canada.

In 1968 Donald was assigned to Key West Florida as a diving instructor. Here he taught 12 secret mission divers the art of mixed gas diving. A year later stationed in Norfolk, Virginia on a salvage ship he received a package from the Philippines.  This package contained a hand carved wooden Master Diver Emblem. A note inside the package read “Thanks Chief we all made it”.

Donald is survived by his wife Renee Hickland Garlick, three step-children, Kirk Tallis and wife Bridget of Wixom, Michigan, Nola Hickland and friend Karen of Holland, Massachusetts, and Mason Hickland and wife Wendy of Ranburne, Alabama and a loving niece Gayle and husband Rick Moone of West Kingston, Rhode Island.

Donald had a favorite saying, “Diving is spoken here”.

John was extremely proud of his Naval career and of serving his country!

He was a member of St. Luke Catholic Church, The Orioles Nest, The Moose, The Eagles, and the VFW all of Sebastian, Florida.

Internment will be in the Cape Canaveral National Cemetery, Mims, Florida.

John Douglas Foster, 84, Sebastian

January 13, 1940 – March 4, 2024

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of John Douglas Foster, on March 4, 2024 at the age of 84, formerly of Harvard, MA and Sebastian, FL.  Retired Raytheon Director with over 25 years of service.  He enjoyed cruising, golf and dancing and spending time with family and friends. He was known for his warm smile, singing like a moose, being the life of the party, and infectious sense of humor.

Doug is preceded in death by his wife of (50 years) and mother of their 3 children, Lois (Tremere) Foster.  Beloved father of Donna Collins and her husband Ross of Liberty South Carolina, Kevin Foster and his wife Jacky of Bolton, MA, and Karen Carroll and her husband Michael of Sebastian, FL.  Preceded in death by his brother Mel Foster. He is survived by 6 grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.

Marjorie Zillah Knight Wehman, 92, Barefoot Bay

November 21, 1931 – March 7, 2024

Marjorie Zillah Knight Wehman, of Barefoot Bay in Florida, passed away on March 7, 2024 following a stroke. With family by her side, she was ready and prepared to go home to Jesus.

Marjorie, born in Elyria, Ohio on November 21, 1931 was the daughter of the late Jack and Ena Knight. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Jack Knight, and her husband, Thomas Wehman.

She was proud of her English heritage as her parents made the long journey from England to America, where they established a family-run business, Jack Knight the Dry Cleaner. After Marjorie became the owner and operator of the dry cleaner, she worked there until her retirement in 1999.

Marjorie followed in her father’s footsteps by retiring to the Barefoot Bay community he had chosen. She loved watching the birds and other wildlife in her backyard pond as well as the golfers playing on Hole #5. And she thoroughly enjoyed the amazing sunsets.

Formerly, she was a member of the First Baptist Church in Elyria and she has been a longtime member of the Riverside Church in Sebastian. For many years, she led a bible study group and helped with a ministry program for homeless people. She was always a faithful servant.

Marjorie is survived by her three sons, Guy Wehman of Montreal, Missouri; Brad Wehman (Guyla) of Bonita Springs, Florida; and Stephen Wehman of Naples, Florida. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, March 10 at 1:00 p.m. at Seawinds Funeral Home. A service, officiated by Pastor Grant Foster from Riverside Church will begin at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow at a later date at the Brookdale Cemetery in Elyria.

Albert L. Kuhner, 89, Sebastian

November 23, 1934 – March 7, 2024

Albert L. Kuhner, 89, of Sebastian, Fla., formerly of Uniontown, Pa., passed away Thursday, March 7,2024 at home, with his wife Patty and family dogs at his side. Born in Pennsylvania on November 23, 1934, son of Joseph and Mary (Young) Kuhner.

Albert retired in 1974 from the USAF after 20 yrs. as Master Sgt. serving in Vietnam and Korea. He worked in the Psychology field for 30 years, as well as German Shepherd and dog rescue and other multiple professions. He ran numerous Marathons over the years and fixed/remade hundreds of bicycles for the neighborhood children.  He was the best husband and friend.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Fran Keough, of Ethridge, Tn., brothers Joseph and Rudy Kuhner of Pennsylvania.  He is survived by his wife Patty (Snyder) Kuhner and their beloved fur babies.

Cremation Service will be provided by Seawinds Funeral Home of Sebastian and there is no service/visitation service requested by the family.

Elsie Margaret Eggen, 97, Sebastian

July 3, 1926 – March 12, 2024

Elsie Margaret Eggen died peacefully at home on March 12, 2024, surrounded by family. Elsie was born July 3, 1926, in Baltimore Maryland, to John and Helen Gertz. She had one brother, Henry who died 1996.

After high school, she worked as a clerk at Fort Meade, Maryland. She worked for the State Department in Washington D.C. during WWII and then enrolled at the University of Chicago, meeting Douglas Eggen, a biophysics student.

They married September 9, 1951, having three children Steve (1954), Karen (1957) and Susan (1958). After his graduation they moved to New Orleans, Louisiana. Elsie was a successful realtor in New Orleans, Louisiana from 1968 to 1985. Douglas worked (as a professor of pathology) at LSU school of medicine in cardiac disease research until his retirement in 1988.

Elsie and Doug moved to Sebastian, Florida in 1989. Elsie loved the outdoors and was an avid gardener. She volunteered at Sebastian Library and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was a generous individual and mentor.

She is predeceased by husband Douglas (2012, 62 years of marriage) and daughter Susan (McIntosh), 2011. Elsie is survived by son Steven (Joan) and daughter Karen Pilman (John), nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Cremation Services are entrusted to Seawinds Funeral Home.
