[Vero Beach, FL] – Literacy Services of Indian River County, Inc. (LSIRC) announces the election of Samia Bennouna to its Board of Directors.
When discussing why she wanted to become a member of the Board of Directors, Bennouna stated, “I believe adult literacy organizations, such as Literacy Services of IRC, hold significant importance as they empower individuals to potentially transform their lives. By teaching reading and writing skills, LSIRC provides individuals with job prospects, better communication abilities, and increased confidence. This not only helps individuals connect better within their communities but also unleashes a world of possibilities, enabling individuals to achieve their utmost potential.”
Samia Bennouna is a member of the Gould Cooksey Fennell’s Estate Planning & Tax Group. Samia’s practice areas include estate planning, estate administration, tax planning and business transactions.
Samia graduated from the University of Central Florida with an undergraduate degree in Legal Studies and earned her Juris Doctor degree from the University of Florida Levin College of Law. After law school, Samia earned a Master of Laws in Taxation from the University of Florida Levin College of Law. Samia resides in Vero Beach.
About Literacy Services of IRC
Literacy Services of Indian River County (LSIRC) has been offering free, confidential adult literacy tutoring to residents of Indian River County since 1971. LSIRC offers adult basic education (ABE), English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), preparation for high school diplomas and GED Exams, preparation for the United States Citizenship Exam, online learning software via phone or computer to amplify student learning, and study assistance for career certification exams. It provides these services through free, confidential, one-to-one and small group literacy and language tutoring.
A United Way supported agency, LSIRC relies on over 150 volunteer tutors who, last fiscal year, dedicated over 9,580 hours of literacy tutoring to over 280 Indian River County adults, aged 16 and older. LSIRC’s mission is to deliver comprehensive and innovative learning opportunities to local adults seeking English language and literacy skills to achieve their goals.
