INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — A mother and son were displaced from their home after a kitchen fire spread throughout the property late Monday, leaving heavy damage. The residents were not hurt, but two birds and a dog were killed in the blaze, said Steve Greer, Assistant Chief with Indian River County Fire Rescue. SEBASTIAN — Two residents, along with their four dogs, were displaced after a house fire that ignited overnight, fire rescue crews said. No injuries were reported in the incident, Indian River County Assistant Fire Chief Bill Herrington said. Red Cross South Florida Region assisted the residents - two adults - and pets with temporary living accommodations. Firefighters were called to the blaze about 3:30 a.m. Monday at the residence along 50th Avenue in Sebastian. Man, dog killed in Monday house fire in Sebastian

SEBASTIAN — A 60-year-old man was killed and his 90-year-old mother badly injured in a house fire Monday, police said. A dog in the home was also killed during the blaze. An update on the woman's condition was not immediately available. The fire happened just before 11 p.m. at the residence in the 900 block of Dolphin Avenue in Sebastian, police Capt. Tim Wood said.
