Dogs For Life is pleased to announce that retired Navy Lieutenant Frank Pelland will be the next guest speaker in DFL’s Speaker Series. Mr. Pelland’s talk on “Hell Week” will be held at 1:30 p.m. on December 29, 2023, at the DFL Training Center, 1230 16th Avenue, in Vero Beach. Please join us to hear from someone who survived – and is thankful for – the ultimate selection process also known as “Hell Week.”
Mr. Pelland entered the Coronado, California training class for Underwater Demolition Teams (UDT) as a newly commissioned Ensign in 1954. He successfully completed the 12 weeks of UDT training – including the aptly named “Hell Week” – and was assigned to Team 12, with which he spent the next five years. Mr. Pelland left the Navy as a Lieutenant and subsequently graduated from Georgetown University Law Center. After practicing law in Washington, DC until his retirement 1997, Mr. Pelland and his wife moved to Vero Beach where he embarked upon, and continues to enjoy, the life of an active retiree.
