It’s time to get some beautiful new plants at this year’s Indian River Bromeliad Society auction. “In addition to bromeliads from our members’ special collections, we will be offering choice, premiere plants from specialty bromeliad growers,” says Society president Sally Gawler. “These are bromeliads that are rarely available from anywhere else in our area.” Typically, these auctions feature bromeliads in a variety of colors, shapes and textures, ranging in height from 1 ½ inches to 6 feet. The auction begins at 7 p.m. (doors open at 6:30 p.m.) Monday, Nov. 13, at the Garden Club of Indian River County, 2526 17th Ave., Vero Beach. Admittance is free; bidding typically begins around $5. There will be light snacks and bottled water at no charge. Cash or checks only. Call 772-713-6007 or visit IRBromeliadSociety.org.

Ballet Vero Beach will perform “And So It Goes” Saturday at the Vero Beach Museum of Art. The performance is designed to reflect the museum’s current exhibition, “M.C. Escher: Infinite Variations.” The company’s ballet master, Camilo A. Rodriguez, uses the music of Eric Satie to create the evening-length ballet for the newly expanded company. In the ballet, Rodriguez explores Escher’s use of symmetry, asymmetry, pattern, repetition and depth of field. The ballet program begins at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 11, at the Vero Beach Museum of Art, 3001 Riverside Park Dr. Admission is $30 for museum members and ballet subscribers, and $36 for non-members. Tickets include admission to the museum galleries starting at 6:30 p.m. that day to accommodate ballet patrons. Space is limited. For more information or to reserve tickets, call 772-231-0707, ext. 116, or visit VBMuseum.org. The “M.C. Escher: Infinite Variations” exhibition runs through Dec. 30. If you need your memory jogged, Escher is the artist who famously created those images of infinite stairways running up and going down and sideways into a mobius strip of impossible looking structures. Regular gallery hours, which now include Monday, run 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays, and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sundays. Admission to the galleries only is free to members, children 17 years and younger, active military with valid ID, and first responders and healthcare workers with ID. Other admission is $12 general, $11 seniors 65 years and older and $5 students with ID.
