Jalynn Joseph, of the 1100 block of Schumann Drive, Sebastian, was charged with attempted murder, possession of a firearm by a convicted juvenile delinquent, grand theft of a firearm and resisting arrest without violence. Joseph was held Thursday at the Indian River County Jail without bond.

Sebastian police initially responded to reports of a disturbance about 12:42 a.m. at the Pelican Isles Apartments, located south of Main Street. Police learned the brothers were arguing over the PlayStation and determined no crime had been committed.

But, as officers were in the parking lot, they heard a gunshot and saw Joseph running from the apartment, police said. The father immediately ran out of the home and yelled that Joseph had shot his brother, officers said.

Police found Joseph in a nearby wooded area and detained him. Officers recovered the handgun used in the shooting.

“The diligent efforts of our officers and detectives in collaboration with the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office in this incident led to a prompt resolution, ensuring the safety of our community,” Sebastian police said in a statement.

Joseph was booked into the county jail. Details on Joseph’s arraignment were not immediately available.
