Impressive lakeside ‘Shores’ home sits in quiet enclave

As you pull onto the circular drive framed by moss-covered live oaks at 211 Shores Dr. in The Shores, the picturesque setting exudes an Old Florida charm that exists throughout this hidden enclave.

“It’s such a great setting. It’s quiet, it’s manageable, and it’s convenient, but also removed at the same time,” shares Jeffrey Lynner, talking about what attracted him and Sallie Gibson when they purchased the spacious lakefront home.

Gibson’s grandmother lived in Vero Beach, which is how her parents discovered the area. That was the catalyst that got Gibson here and later, Lynner.

He says Vero is “quiet and has a great environment.” He particularly appreciates the City Code of Ordinance limiting building and structure height to 35 feet, “so the density is manageable, unlike other parts of Florida.”

Lynner says they love the way their home is laid out, with the primary suite on one side of the house and the guest bedrooms on the other. He explains that the floorplan affords them privacy. With “the living space in between, it’s together, but it’s separate.”

The well-built home is resplendent with fine details, from the crown molding and window seats to the built-ins and ceiling features notes Rita Curry, Dale Sorensen Real Estate broker associate and listing agent, of the classically designed home. With high ceilings, an open floorplan and windows with transoms, the home has lots of natural light.

Noting the home is sited east to west, Lynner adds it gets sun all day long, but because of the growth and mature plantings, it doesn’t get oppressively hot.

The double-louvered entry door has a retractable screen for cross ventilation with the wall of sliding glass doors across the back of the living room. Positioned at the center of the house, the spacious living room is both cozy and refined, with a gas fireplace adding to the ambiance.

To the right of the front entry, a study and the primary suite fill the south wing of the house. The spacious bedroom overlooks the pool and lake through sliding glass doors and from a seating area with a large picture window.

Walk-in closets are on either side of the hallway leading to the bathroom, where a shower, dual sinks, a built-in vanity, a jetted tub, and a water closet with a window and bidet offer a luxurious escape.

The dining room is located just off the front entry, convenient for guests, along with a nearby powder room. With two partial walls, wainscoting and a large window, the dining room is equally elegant and unassuming.

The laundry, access to the two-car garage, the kitchen, the family room and two en suite guest bedrooms, with one bathroom opening to the lanai and serving as the cabana bath, complete the north wing.

Centrally located, the kitchen can be accessed easily from the family room, breakfast nook and dining room. With dual ovens, a gas cooktop, a wet bar, and a refrigerator with a glass-front, energy-saving door, meal preparation and entertaining are a breeze.

There’s plenty of counter space with a breakfast bar delineating the room from the breakfast nook and family room, so you can keep an eye on things while working in the kitchen.

The family room has a built-in entertainment center and two window seats for extra storage.

The room is easily accessible to the pool and guest wing so that visitors can move about freely.

A trio of sliding glass doors opens onto the lanai overlooking the pool and lake, expanding the living area to include this covered outdoor space with motorized screens.

The fenced backyard is private and has nice exposure, notes Curry. The heated pool has a lagoon finish and there’s space to sit in the sun or shade.

This serene setting is located just north of John’s Island and adjacent to the Historic Jungle Trail, which is perfect for running, walking and biking. The community’s private tennis and pickleball courts and public beach access nearby provide additional outdoor opportunities.

“The entrance of The Shores is so grand. Probably the prettiest no matter where you go,” says Curry, noting the neighborhood is in a great location. “It’s close enough in; it’s not way out.”

The Shores is just a short drive away from The Village Shops, Ocean Drive for shopping and dining, Riverside Park, Riverside Theatre, and the Vero Beach Museum of Art to the south, and the Environmental Learning Center and Sebastian Inlet to the north.
