WHY:                UP’s purpose is to inspire and empower people living in poverty to lift themselves and their families to economic self-sufficiency. This is achieved through a holistic approach to breaking the cycle of poverty with their programs: Crisis Stabilization Program, Member Share Grocery Program (MSGP), Education Program, and Success Training Employment Program (STEP). The Crisis Stabilization Program provides support for those facing instability in their lives. MSGP is a dignified food and household assistance program where you can personally select the nutritious food items your family needs. The Education Program provides free workshops such as Financial Literacy, Computer Skills and many more every week. STEP is a workforce development program dedicated to enhancing job-readiness skills. The goal of the program is job placement and long-term job retention. STEP has graduated over 550 adults and our program carries over an 80% one-year employment retention rate.
