31st Samaritan Center Soup Bowl Event Set for November 2
Pick-up a bowl of soup, handcrafted pottery to help homeless
(Vero Beach, FL) September 21, 2023 – Catholic Charities’ Samaritan Center will hold its 31st Annual Soup Bowl fundraising event on Thursday, November 2 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Vero Beach Heritage Center. Handmade pottery bowls and soup will be available for donations. Area businesses, places of worship and other organizations will join the cause by serving soup and offering bowls for donations at their locations.
“With the simple act of buying a bowl of soup anyone can join the Samaritan Center in helping families in our community to transition from homelessness to living independently, said Renee Bireley, Samaritan Center Development Manager. You’ll help some of the neediest in our community, and get artfully crafted bowls for gifts, keepsakes, and as meaningful symbols of your kindness – all for a modest donation.”
“Indian River Clay potters will donate over 1,200 bowls this year. It’s a humble fundraiser with a huge impact. For the modest cost of a bowl of soup, you can help change the lives of homeless families in our community,” said Glenda Taylor of Indian River Clay.
Soup donated by local country clubs will be served by our community partner The Source’s Dignity Food Truck on November 2 at the Heritage Center. Other participating locations will serve their own culinary creations all for a suggested donation of $5.00. The hand-made bowls are available at the Heritage Center and select locations for an additional donation of $20.00.
Vero Beach Heritage Center Executive Director Robyn Berry, said, “The Heritage Center was one of the very first, if not first, location for the Samaritan Center’s Soup bowl. We are pleased to play a part in such an important community event. As Vero Beach’s first community building, it is a privilege to continue building community.”
All proceeds benefit the Samaritan Center which provides transitional housing and guidance to homeless families in Indian River County and prepares them to live independently. The Samaritan Center is a program of Catholic Charities, Diocese of Palm Beach.
