Video: Deputies catch Jupiter stabbing suspect following high-speed chase on I-95

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — A suspect wanted out of Jupiter for stabbing a doctor was jailed Wednesday after leading deputies on a high-speed chase along northbound Interstate 95. Dashboard camera video from sheriff’s vehicles, along with helicopter footage, captured the pursuit as deputies worked to stop the man behind the wheel as he reached speeds exceeding 130 mph.

“The teamwork displayed in the pursuit of this attempted murder suspect was absolutely incredible. The training exercises we have done in the past couple of years have paid dividends in this pursuit and many others,” Indian River County Sheriff Eric Flowers said.

“This is but one very heroic example of what the men and women of the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office do every day. The word is out – Indian River County is a bad place to be a criminal because the sheriff’s office will get you.”

No injuries were reported during the incident.

The sheriff’s office on Thursday released footage of the chase. The nearly two-minute video shows deputies using stop sticks and a tactical maneuver to disable the vehicle.

The suspect, Nicholas David Parchesco, 28, of Margate, faces several charges out of Palm Beach County, including attempted murder. Parchesco was arrested in Indian River County on a charge of fleeing and eluding.

He was held Friday at the Indian River County Jail on a $100,000 bond. Parchesco was also held on the warrant out of Palm Beach County.

Details about the doctor’s condition and the circumstances involving the stabbing were not immediately available.

Jupiter police notified local deputies about 5 p.m. Wednesday that a man suspected of stabbing a physician was traveling north on the interstate approaching Indian River County. Deputies learned the man – Parchesco – was driving a white Lexus sedan, reports show.

“Our deputies immediately responded to the south county line and waited for the vehicle. Our Real Time Crime Center located the vehicle on our license plate reader cameras positioned in the area and shared live information of its location and direction of travel,” sheriff’s officials said in a statement.

“Our deputies and (helicopter) received the real time information and quickly spotted the vehicle entering our county.”

Patrol deputies saw the Lexus traveling near mile marker 144. As deputies followed the Lexus, Parchesco accelerated quickly and weaved in and out of traffic, cutting off vehicles, reports show.

Deputies activated their emergency lights and sirens, but Parchesco continued to drive at high speeds and traveled onto the shoulder. Deputies tossed out a spike strip on the roadway near the Fellsmere interstate exit and deflated one of Parchesco’s tires, reports show.

Parchesco then drove over the grassy median and attempted to head southbound. Deputies bumped the rear of the Lexus twice, causing the vehicle to spin to a stop.

Deputies arrested Parchesco and booked him into the county jail. Parchesco has an arraignment at 8:45 a.m. Nov. 30, court records show.
