Vero Beach International Tennis Open/US Open

23 VBITO Players to Compete in US Open; Grand Harbor Sports Director Guest Speaker

VERO BEACH, FL – We are excited to announce the participation of 23 exceptional players who are set to compete in the US Open. These remarkable athletes have graced the Grand Harbor courts while competing in your Vero Beach International Tennis Open (VBITO). Among this distinguished group, we would like to call particular attention to Emma Navarro, who claimed the Runner-Up title this year at your VBITO. Additionally, Peyton Stearns, who also competed in the VBITO this year, is currently ranked 59 in the world and rising! These two outstanding American Players’ achievements have propelled them into the ranks of the top 100 players in the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA).

The Vero Beach International Tennis Open plays a pivotal role as a developmental stage series of tournaments. This series provides a platform through which players can achieve rankings within the top 100 or even the top 50 players on a global scale, often in a matter of mere months. The outstanding achievements of players Emma Navarro and Peyton Stearns serve as examples of this rapid and impactful progression.

Grand Harbor Golf & Beach Club is privileged to host the best of the best, and we invite you to join us in celebrating them as they compete in the US Open.

In addition to the success of these players, Marco Osorio, Director of Sports at the Grand Harbor Golf and Beach Club, will represent Vero Beach at this year’s U.S. Open as a guest speaker at its conference hosted by the International Tennis Federation in New York.

With a career spanning over 20 years, Marco has a unique background as an ATP player, High Performance Tennis Coach, Tournament Organizer, and in Club Management.

Marco first started his career as a professional tennis player, reaching a career high in the top 200 in both singles and doubles.  As a Davis Cup player for Mexico, he logged victories over none other than Roger Federer and the Bryan brothers.

Upon his retirement from the professional scene, he transitioned into the next stage of his career, becoming one of the most successful High Performance Tennis Coaches in his home country of Mexico.  Having coached multiple National Champions in all age divisions, he was tapped as Mexico’s Davis Cup Captain.

The rare talent of tournament organization comes easily to Marco. Rooted in his understanding of the importance of these events for players’ development, he has 50 world class tournaments under his belt and has been recognized on five different occasions by the International Tennis Federation for the Best “Grade A” Tournament in the world.  Grade A’s are the most important tournaments in the world, with only 9 events worldwide, including the 4 Grand Slams!

Accomplished in club management as well, Marco was COO of the largest sports club organization in Mexico.

In 2011, he undertook both new personal and professional challenges when he decided to move to Vero Beach and bought the Vero Beach Tennis Club, successfully turning around its operation.

Since 2018, he has been working for Grand Harbor, first as its Head Tennis Professional, then as Tennis Director. Since 2021, he has filled a dual role as its Sports Director, overseeing Grand Harbor’s tennis and pickleball program, as well as Tournament Director for the Vero Beach International Tennis Open.

Marco has a solid academic background, holding 3 Graduate Degrees, including an MBA, Family Coaching and Development, and Performance and Innovation in Tennis. He is a frequent guest speaker at Sports and Tennis Conferences worldwide.
