Shirley May Laferriere, 84
April 28, 1939 – July 18, 2023
Shirley May Laferriere, 84, passed away on July 18, 2023 at Vitas Hospice. She was the wife of Philip Laferriere. They shared 63 years of marriage together.
Born in Eagle Lake, Maine, she was the daughter of Ervin and Anita Pinette. She graduated from Fort Kent Community High School in 1957. She graduated from the Hartford Hospital School of Nursing in Hartford, Connecticut in 1960. And she graduated from Barry University in Miami, Florida in 1997. She worked as a registered nurse in the state of Connecticut for 35 years and a registered nurse in the state of Florida for 18 years.
She was a member of St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic church and she volunteered in the church outreach and church choir. She also volunteered at Hanley Hazelden Center at St. Mary’s Hospital. She enjoyed quilting and needlework, and loved playing dominoes and Bunco with her friends. And she really enjoyed traveling. She will be remembered for her love of her family and the love that she shared with her friends.
Shirley is survived by her spouse of 63 years Philip Laferriere of Grant, FL; her two daughters Janet Laskarin (Joseph, spouse) of Mannington, WV and Gisele Foster (Kevin O’Conner, partner) of P.B.G., FL; her son Michael Laferriere (Kathy, spouse) of Mars Hill, NC; and her grandchildren: Phillip Laskarin, Ashley Foster, and Larissa Laferriere. She is also survived by her little dog, Pierre. She is preceded in death by her father Ervin J. Pinette, her mother Anita Raymond Pinette, and her brother John Pinette (01/08/1956).
There will be no service or viewing. Interment of her cremated remains will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Wallagrass, Maine.

Phillip Wayne Hartsfield Jr., 53, Sebastian
July 16, 1970 – July 17, 2023
Phillip Wayne Hartsfield Jr., 53, of Sebastian, died Monday July 17th at his home.
Phil was born to the late Phillip Wayne Hartsfield Sr, and surviving Jeanne Hartsfield in Vero Beach Florida, July 16th, 1970. He attended/graduated Vero Beach High School in 1988. Phil started his career with Indian River County Parks Department in 1993, making his way to Crew Leader of Underground Utilities where he worked until his passing, totaling 30 years. He took pride and went to great lengths to serve the members of our community during his career. Phil continued his education in his field over the years, collecting a multitude of certifications. Phil was also a member of the Teamsters Union #769.
Phil at a young age had a passion for cars and motorcycles. He spent much of his free time modifying his vehicles with his sons, passing on the passion. He loved drag racing his cars and cruising his Harley’s, he was happiest in the wind. Phil had a hard exterior to outsiders but to his loved ones he was loyal, selfless, and his sarcastic sense of humor made for some immensely funny moments.
Phil is survived by his sister Frances Hartsfield of Sebastian (Lyndsey & Tyler), his partner Mary Hartsfield, his oldest son Cameron Hartsfield of Fort Pierce (Jackie), his youngest son Truman Hartsfield (Karlie) of Oregon and his Granddaughter Harper Hartsfield.
A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Robert “Bob” Powell, 61, Florida
February 14, 1962 – August 3, 2023
Robert “Bob” Powell, 61, peacefully passed away on August 3th, 2023. He was the husband of Renee Powell and they shared over 23 years of marriage together.
Bob was born in Plainfield, New Jersey and moved with his family to Florida 20 years ago. He graduated from a welding technical trade school in Piscataway, NJ. He had a successful 40-year career as a professional welder. He was employed John’s Island Club, Vero Beach, FL and worked as a Maintenance Technician, as their Welder/Carpenter.
He was a proud member of American Legion Post 189, Elks Club of Sebastian and The Italian American Club of Sebastian. He belonged to several Pool and Dart Leagues in both New Jersey and Florida. He did a fantastic job renovating houses and was master of woodworking projects. He was a great mechanic and restored vintage cars. Bob was a fun-loving guy and the life of the party. He was had an incredible gift of making friend wherever he went.
Bob is survived by his wife, Renee; his daughter, Bianca Mia Mota; his siblings, Maryalice and husband William Urrego of Milford NJ, Kathleen and Stephen Sanzari of Pahrump NV, Tamara Hollingsworth and Husband Michael Henry of Sebastian FL; his niece, Tara Hollingsworth; his nephews, William JR, Daniel, Jonathan Urrego; his beloved dog, FiFi along with many great friends. He will be dearly missed.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 12th at Seawinds Funeral Home, 735 S. Fleming Street, Sebastian, FL 32958. The viewing/visitation will be held from 2:00 pm to 4:00 and the service will be at 4:00 pm.
Memorial donations in lieu of flowers are being accepted by his family.

Mary Evelyn Stubbs Graham, 85
August 28, 1937 – August 8, 2023
Mary Evelyn Stubbs Graham, 85, passed away on August 8th, 2023 at her residence. She was the widow of Robert Graham. They shared 62 wonderful years of marriage together.
Born in Rochelle, Georgia, she was the daughter of George Stubbs and Celya Fitzgerald Stubbs. Before retirement, she was employed at the Sebastian Post Office and worked as a postal clerk.
She was a member of Fellsmere Church of God. In her free time, she enjoyed sewing, shopping, camping, and spending time with her family and friends. She will be remembered for her loving, caring, and kind personality as well as her unique sense of humor and the love she had for her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Evelyn is survived by her son Robert Allen Graham (Libby); her daughter Vicky Codd (Rick); her five grandchildren: Christopher Graham (Tiffany), Cody Graham (Victoria), Trevor Graham (Marielle), Ashlyn Codd, and Kellie Ferguson; and her nine great-grandchildren: Cristian Kennedy, Taylor Graham, Grayson Graham, Caden Graham, Aubrey Graham, Reagan Graham, Maverick Graham, Rowan Graham, and Kymber Jereczek. She is predeceased in death by her parents, her husband, and seven siblings: Dorsey Stubbs, J.S. Stubbs, Doyle Stubbs, Estoria Moss, Elloween Myers, Raymond Stubbs, and George Stubbs.
The visitation will be held on Monday, August 14th, 2023 from 5pm to 8pm at Seawinds Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 15th, 2023 at 10am at Seawinds Funeral Home with interment to follow at Winter Beach Cemetery.

Joseph C. Generazio, 74, Barefoot Bay
October 25, 1948 – July 21, 2023
Joseph C. Generazio, 74, of Barefoot Bay, FL passed away on Friday July 21st, 2023.
Mr. Generazio was born in Brooklyn, New York. He was the son of Joseph Generazio Sr. and Rose Mary (Gngone) Generazio. Joe was a proud veteran of the Vietnam war, retired New York City police officer, and successful real estate broker.
He was a lifelong active member in the Masonic lodge 232. Joe had been a District Deputy Grand Master of the 30th Masonic District. He was a life member of the VFW and American Legion. He will be remembered as a loving husband, with a caring heart, and for his kindness and patience with others. He will be greatly missed by his many friends and family.
He is survived by his loving wife Betsy Jarvis-Generazio, son Tommy Generazio (wife Joi), daughter Donna O’Neill (husband James), five grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held on August 19, 2023 at 6:00pm at the Masonic Lodge, 1715 N. Central Ave, Sebastian FL 32958.

Marinus (Rin) Westergaard, 95
February 26, 1928 – August 12, 2023
Marinus (Rin) Westergaard died peacefully on August 12, 2023 at the age of 95. He was a veteran of the US Navy serving in WW2 and Korea. He was a Master Electrician and Navy EOD Diver. Rin was a member of the Wycoff Masonic Lodge. Predeceased by his wife of 61 years, Ruth Joan née Hegeler and son Glenn Westergaard. Survived by daughter Rene (Mike) Mccullers, grandson Michael (Deana) Mccullers, granddaughters Jamie (Kyle) Gunn, Michelle (Isaac) Horowitz, great grandchildren Sophia Mccullers, Tanner Gunn and Tenley Gunn.

Kenneth Roy Kerley, 83
March 10, 1940 – August 12, 2023
Kenneth Roy Kerley, 83, passed away on August 12th, 2023 at HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital. He was the husband of Mary Kerley. They shared 17 years of marriage together.
Born in London, England, he was the son of Alfred and Joan Kerley. He was employed by Buffalo China as a machine repairman.
He was a member of the American Legion, the American Legion Riders and the Italian American Club. He was a NASCAR fan he enjoyed gardening, especially growing vegetables and taking care of his yard. He was caring, loving and tried to be funny and helped out everyone.
Kenneth is survived by his wife Mary Kerley, his son Allen Kerley, his daughters Beth Kerley and Jill Hemmingway, his step-daughter Jennifer Dennis (Matthew), 5 grandchildren and his sisters Fay Good and Angela Artymowycz.
He is predeceased by his parents and son-in-law Chris Hemmingway.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, August 21, 2023 at 10am at Riverview Park located at 600 U.S. Highway 1, on the corner of U.S. Highway 1 and C.R. 512 /Sebastian Boulevard.
