United Way Calls for Project Submissions for Annual Day of Caring Volunteer Event

VERO BEACH, July 17, 2023 – Day of Caring is a signature initiative of United Way of Indian River County, which brings together businesses, nonprofits, and community members to engage in meaningful volunteer work. This event sparks change, by fostering collaboration among organizations and inspiring individuals to give back to their communities.

United Way is inviting organizations to participate in its highly anticipated annual Day of Caring, a one-day volunteer event dedicated to positively impacting the community. On Saturday, October 21, 2023, the one-day event will begin with a kick-off breakfast at the newly renovated Holman Stadium at the Jackie Robinson Training Complex.

“Day of Caring is a testament to the power of collective action,” said Meredith Egan, CEO at United Way. “We are eager to see the diverse range of projects submitted this year and witness the impact they will have on our community. Together, we can make a difference.”

The event, now in its 28th year, encourages organizations to submit projects that align with United Way’s mission to improve lives and strengthen communities. Projects can include but are not limited to:

– Beautification efforts in public spaces

– Painting and cleaning

– Assistance with food drives or meal preparation

– Minor repairs and restoration for community facilities

– Organizing supplies and sorting donations

– Clerical tasks

From project planning and coordination to volunteer recruitment and logistics, United Way will be there every step of the way to ensure a successful and impactful Day of Caring. Organizations do not have to be a current partner to apply.

All Indian River County nonprofits, churches, and schools, large and small, are invited to join Day of Caring and contribute to building a stronger, more vibrant community. By working together, we can make a lasting difference in the lives of those in need.

Organizations are encouraged to visit UnitedWayIRC.org/DOC to submit a project. The submission process has changed from previous years and is now entirely digital. The deadline for project submissions is Friday, August 11, 2023, so organizations are encouraged to act promptly.
