YOUTH GUIDANCE RECEIVES $10,730 DONATION FROM EXCHANGE CLUB OF TREASURE COAST

Vero Beach, FL (06/27/2023) … Youth Guidance received a donation of $10,730 from the Exchange Club of the Treasure Coast on May 3rd, 2023. This donation will help Youth Guidance provide free summer camp for 75 children ages 5-18 who live in Indian River County.

Summer camp runs from Monday through Friday from June 5th to July 3rd. Youth Guidance is partnering with 14 different agencies this summer to broaden children’s horizons and introduce them to new experiences, people, and businesses within Indian River County.

Summer camp activities include: Roller skating at Skate Factory, pool days at Gifford Aquatic Center and North County Pool, rowing with Vero Beach Rowing, equestrian with Sherwood Farms, paddleboarding with Paddles by the Sea, boat tours with Captain Hiram’s Resort, pottery with Indian River Clay, swim team with Float Hope, a STEM program for middle school girls with the Environmental Learning Center, performing arts at the Sunrise Theatre, farming and agriculture at C-B farms, sea turtle exploration with Coastal Connections, and an intro to LED lighting at LED Capstone.

“Our theme this year is ‘STEAM-ing’ Summer,” said Phil Barnes, Youth Guidance Executive Director. “STEAM stands for science, technology, engineering, arts, and math. The children are loving it so far, and we are grateful to supporters like the Exchange Club of the Treasure Coast for helping us continue offering our summer camp to local families in need free of charge.”

In addition to the above activities, Youth Guidance provides breakfast and lunch daily for summer campers through its partnership with the Indian River County School District.
