When Anthony Della Porta, president of Della Porta Construction, built the home at 618 Lantana Lane in Indian Bay, his aim was to “capture the charm of Vero.”
Premier Estate Properties broker associate Kay Brown and estate agent Melissa Talley say Della Porta pulled it off, creating a quintessential coastal-modern island home located on an off-the-beaten-path cul-de-sac lined with majestic oaks – a reminder of what has been drawing people to this little seaside town for decades.
Talley points out the clean lines of the solidly built home and its overall understated sophistication, noting the custom craftsmanship and quality designer finishes, which are enhanced by the Hazel House décor.
From the crown molding to the custom cabinetry, there is great attention to detail – yet the home is not rigidly defined in a way that would limit the interior design aesthetics.

The home was built for entertaining and Della Porta provided plenty of room for guests to park in the circle drive at the front, with an additional parking area adjacent to the two-car, side-entry garage.
Dark half-glass mahogany doors open into the foyer, where guests are drawn into the inviting living room with a vaulted ceiling, a ventless fireplace, built-ins, a powder room, a wet bar with a beverage center and a wall of sliding glass doors.
The kitchen, dining room and family room extend through to the western end of the house, open, yet defined by ceiling height and design. An expansive quartz-topped island further delineates the space while providing casual seating and the perfect place to serve appetizers.
A second set of sliding glass doors allows easy access to the covered poolside seating area where guests can enjoy cocktails and sunset views as well as a dip or serious swim in the pool.
Since people gather in the kitchen, Della Porta made sure the space was inviting and functional, with high-end appliances, wood cabinets and charming accents, including the beautiful Akdo backsplash.
Glass-enclosed pocket doors that separate the living room from these communal gathering areas were an ingenious addition to allow for times when you want to create a more intimate setting.
“It really creates a difference,” says Talley. “You can have formal living space, casual living space or join the two.”
From the front entry, the primary suite and one guest suite are located to the left, nicely separated for privacy and allowing for the use of this guest suite as a convenient office.
“This light-filled home boasts a well thought-out floor plan with ideal separation of space,” Talley continues, noting the four bedrooms with en-suite baths to accommodate family or guests.
The primary suite offers lovely pool views with peeks at the river, two walk-in closets, and a luxurious bathroom with a soaking tub, frameless glass shower and dual sinks.
The other two guest bedrooms are reached via a pantry-lined hallway to the right of the foyer, where guests can use the kitchen, family room, laundry room and garage without necessarily disturbing the owners on the other side of the house.
Outside, “the covered lanai and outdoor living space with southern exposure are surrounded by a landscaping package that affords both privacy and beauty, all in the perfect location – close to the beach, the bridges and all the amenities of our beach town,” notes Talley.
The swimming pool and spa with a sun shelf offer a quiet respite where you can cool off on hot summer days or get some welcome exercise. Della Porta went the extra mile with the landscaping so that the foliage creates a private enclave.
A 500-gallon propane tank fuels a grill for outdoor cooking as well as the pool heater, kitchen cooktop, clothes dryer, tankless water heater and living room fireplace.
Indian Bay is located just south of the Alma Lee Loy Bridge. The neighborhood is convenient to Saint Edward’s School and Beachland Elementary School and close to the beach and the Ocean Drive shopping and dining district as well as mainland shopping, dining and services just over the bridge.
Riverside Theatre and the Vero Beach Museum of Art provide cultural offerings. Riverside Park offers a tennis facility, exercise circuit, event space and boat launch, with the city marina and a sprawling, waterside dog park nearby.
