Enjoy some great country music this Saturday at Vet Fest 2023. Hosted by the United Cajun Navy and Next Gen Vets of Indian River County, the day-long event brings to town three great country music acts – the Eli Young Band, Mark Chestnutt and Thomas Cain. The Eli Young Band is well known for “Crazy Girl,” which was Billboard’s No. 1 Country Song of the Year and got the ACM Award for Song of the Year. The group has had more than 3 billion streams of their catalogue. Chestnutt has had 14 No. 1 hits, 23 top-10 singles, four platinum albums and five gold records. A Baton Rouge, La., native, Cain performs throughout the Gulf Coast and is known for his high-energy performance of originals and covers. Vet Fest 2023 also invites patrons to enjoy the food trucks, inflatables, and celebrities from the NBA, NFL and NASCAR. Admission is $20 general, $15 veterans, $5 ages 10 and under, and $100 for VIP tickets. Try your hand at blackjack, craps, roulette and poker Saturday evening at the Indian River County 4-H Foundation Casino Night Fundraiser. You get $150 in fun money to spend on authentic casino games. You can “cash in” winning and get great prizes. Admission runs $75 to $85 and includes wine and beer, food from Wild Thyme Catering, a DJ and live entertainment. There will be raffles held throughout the night with prizes galore. The Casino Night Fundraiser helps support the IRC 4-H Foundation which, in part, raises funds to help support the area’s 4-H Program. Make plans now for the Vero Beach Film Festival, which opens June 7 and runs through June 11. The festival in part explores new voices in independent film and dining at some hidden gems in Vero Beach. There are panel discussions and opportunities to rub shoulders with those in the industry. Films and other presentations are held at a variety of venues, including the Vero Beach Museum of Art, the Women’s Club of Vero Beach, the Courthouse Executive Center, the Vero Beach Theatre Guild, the Indian River County Library, the Majestic II Theatre, Edgewood Eatery, the Heritage Center, Grand Harbor Beach Club, and the Indian River County Commission Chambers. The First Presbyterian Youth Orchestra will hold its final fundraiser concert before its New York trip this Sunday. The concert will feature student soloists, duets and small chamber groups followed by a performance by a full string orchestra. Music performed will include “Invierno Porteno” by Astor Piazolla, “The Holberg Suite” by Edvard Grieg and “Orawa” by Wojciech Kilar. The concert begins 4 p.m. Sunday, June 4, at the First Presbyterian Church, 520 Royal Palm Blvd., Vero Beach.
