First Presbyterian Department of Music and Arts
May 16, 2023, VERO BEACH – The Department of Music and Arts Youth Music Program at First Presbyterian Church will present a Fundraiser Concert on Sunday, June 4, 2023, at 4:00pm. It will take place in the sanctuary at First Presbyterian Church, 520 Royal Palm Boulevard in Vero Beach. This concert is free to attend; donations will be accepted to benefit the Youth Music Trip to New York City in June.
The First Presbyterian Youth Orchestra is under the direction of Dr. Jacob Craig and Erik Bryan. Craig is the Director of Music and Arts for First Presbyterian Church, and Bryan directs the ASTA Grand Champion award-winning Orchestra at Eau Gallie High School in Brevard County. Together, these two dynamite directors have brought a refreshed sense of excellence to the group. This newly invigorated ensemble has goals of going to compete in the American String Teachers Association (ASTA) National Orchestra Festival in 2024, followed by future international performances and competitions within the coming years.
The group will offer one last fundraiser concert on Sunday, June 4, 2023, at 4:00pm, ahead of their trip to New York City at the end of June. The first half of the performance will feature student soloists, duets, and small chamber groups, followed by full string orchestra performances of Invierno Porteno by Astor Piazolla, The Holberg Suite by Edvard Grieg, and Orawa by Wojciech Kilar.
