The sounds of horses thundering down the field mixed with the clink of champagne glasses at a Polo and Champagne fundraising event hosted by Blondie’s Fashion & Frills at the Vero Beach Polo Club to benefit New Horizons of the Treasure Coast and Okeechobee.
Many of the ladies sported colorful, gauzy Blondie’s fashions with wide-brimmed hats as they gathered with friends at a large tent at center field to watch the matches.
Funding was raised through a silent auction and 50/50 raffle to support the comprehensive mental health and substance use recovery programs of New Horizons at its nine facilities across four counties.
For the past six decades, the nonprofit has provided inpatient and outpatient mental health care for adults and children, regardless of ability to pay. They have resource centers where clients can learn independent living skills, a transitional group home, primary care clinic, substance abuse and detox services, case management, family support and counseling, and programs in schools and with law enforcement agencies.
