Josh the Otter returned this Spring to visit pre-schools in Vero Beach, Gifford and Fellsmere. Josh is the mascot for the water safety program developed to encourage pre-school children to Swim with an Adult, Learn to Float, and Swim with a Buddy.
After hearing the story called “Josh the Baby Otter”, the children get to meet the Josh mascot and even share high-fives. Each child receives a coloring book, crayons and a Josh badge as reminders of the safety lesson. Letters are also provided for parents to learn about the program.
This year, Josh and his team of helpers from the Rotary Club of Vero Beach Oceanside met with approximately 750 children in 19 local pre-schools to promote water safety, a topic that is especially important here on the Treasure Coast.
