Man charged with attempted murder in May 2022 stabbing

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — A man was charged with attempted second-degree murder in connection with a May 2022 stabbing that left another man seriously hurt. The man who was stabbed in the abdomen had to undergo surgery, reports show.

James Ferris Walker Jr., 35, of Fort Pierce, was charged on March 21 with attempted second-degree murder with a weapon. He was originally charged with aggravated battery on May 12, 2022, court records show.

Walker remained held Friday at the Indian River County Jail on $200,000 bond.

Indian River County sheriff’s deputies responded to reports of a stabbing at 8:42 a.m. May 10, 2022, near 26th Avenue and 42nd Place. Officers saw a blood trail in the street at the intersection.

Deputies learned the injured man was dropped off at Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital. Witnesses told deputies that Walker and the man got into a dispute earlier.

Walker pushed the man, causing him to fall, reports show. When the man got back to his feet, Walker stabbed him, witnesses told deputies.

Walker then ran westbound on 42nd Place, reports show.

Deputies arrested Walker on the additional charge. Walker was due in court May 3, court records show.
