World Renowned Death Doula to Join Free Workshops for Caregivers of Loved Ones at the End of Life

Free Workshops Offered To Help Caregivers Support Loved Ones at the End of Life

Vero Beach, FL – March 21, 2023 – Family caregivers are invited to a free series of “Conversations on End of Life” to learn how to plan for and care for dying loved ones, the Center for Spiritual Care and Floradoula LLC announced.

The series will feature an in-person visit from world-renowned hospice nurse Suzanne B. O’Brien, RN, founder of the International Doulagivers Institute, the premier training program for end of life doulas in the United States and around the world that is revolutionizing end of life care.

The first session will be a conversation with participants to share their thoughts and questions about death and dying. At the second session, participants will receive the Doulagivers Level 1 Caregivers Training, a program for caregivers to help prepare them for caring for loved ones at the end of life. O’Brien will join this session to answer participant questions. The third session will teach participants how to prepare advance directives that reflect their personal choices for end of life care.

The three workshops will take place March 30 at 4 p.m., April 20 at 12 noon, and May 11 at 4 p.m. at the Center for Spiritual Care located at 1550 24th St. Vero Beach.

The Doulagivers Institute trains professional death doulas who bridge the gap in health care between patients/families and hospice care. Since its formation in 2012, O’Brien has delivered the free, family caregiver training to more than 150,000 individuals the world over, presented in four languages. She also has  certified almost 7,000 end of life doulas in the U.S. and other countries.

O’Brien is a registered nurse who has worked directly at the bedside of more than 1,500 patients at the end of life as a hospice and oncology nurse. She was honored as a “Worldwide Leader in Healthcare” by the International Nurses Association and Hamed Humanitarian Ambassador for Oprah Magazine in 2019 for her groundbreaking work enhancing end of life care.
