Karen Melinda Poag, died unexpectedly on February 6, 2023, at age 42.
Karen was born in New Jersey, where she lived in Haddonfield until relocating at age 3 to Baltimore, MD, where she grew up. Karen attended the Baltimore School for the Arts for 3 years and graduated from Lansdowne High in 1998. She attended Dickinson College in Carlisle, PA, graduating in 2002 cum laude with a degree in Economics. During her time at Dickinson, she attended Peking University in Beijing, China, as part of the study-abroad program. In 2002, she relocated to Boynton Beach, FL, making Florida her permanent home.
Karen was employed by several companies, including serving as System Administrator/ Business Analyst at Aviation, Power and Marine, Inc., and later as Sales Analyst for Food Services Division at Dart Container Corporation in South Florida.
An avid reader, Karen sought to share her passion by serving as a volunteer and trainer for “Recording for the Blind & Dyslexic” in Boca Raton. She was also a member of the National Economics Honor Society, from 2001-2023.
Karen had talents in many areas, including music, languages, love of travel, quick wit, and adored her cat companions.
Survivors include her mother Linda Poag, brother Ryan Poag, nephew Collin Poag; aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends from around the world.
Karen was predeceased by her father David Poag, and her maternal and paternal grandparents.
Service information will be announced at a later date.

Gloria Marie Furst, 78, Vero Beach

Gloria Marie Furst, age 78, passed away peacefully at home in Vero Beach, Florida on February 25th, 2023.
She was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Umberto and Lillian Rimato. She grew up in Springfield, Pennsylvania and attended Springfield High School. Gloria was a beautiful mother and homemaker. She loved gardening, arts and crafts, and was a caregiver to many pets.
Survivors include her sister Pamela (Robert); daughters Janine (John) and Melani; stepchildren Kristin, William, Andrew, and Kathryn (Adam); grandchildren Jake (Alyssa), Evan (Krista), Gemma; and great grandson Jack.
Gloria was predeased by her loving husband William Furst; parents Umberto and Lillian Rimato; and brother Robert Hazard Rimato.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, March 4th, 2023 beginning at 11:00 am at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 21 S 13th St, Philadelphia, PA 19107. The reception will follow at 12:15 pm at Pietro’s Italian Cuisine, 1714 Walnut St, Philadelphia, PA 19103. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date at The First Unitarian Church of Philadelphia.

Jermaine Verron Poindexter, age 40, passed away February 22, 2023, at Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital.
He was born in Vero Beach, Florida and was a graduate of Indian River State College.
Survivors include his wife, Brooke Poindexter; daughters, Aa’nyia and JaMyia, adopted daughter, Jaliyah Mills; father, Ricky Green; sister, LaToya Green; nephews, JaMarion Green, RoMance Mohammad, and Demitris McFarlane; and niece, Alizah Green Fuzzy.
Jermaine is predeceased by his grandparents Willie Mae and Ellis Poindexter, and mother Loretta Green.
The Memorial Service will be held March 3rd from 3:00 pm-7: 00 pm at Thomas S. Lowther Funeral Home. The Funeral service will be held March 4th from 1:00 pm-3:30 pm at St. Mathews Missionary Baptist Church, Wabasso, FL. Repass will take place at the Royal Ballroom Vero Beach, FL from 3pm-7pm.

Janet Lynn Murray, 65, Vero Beach

Janet Lynn Murray, 65, of Vero Beach, FL, passed peacefully at her home surrounded by family on Monday, February 27, 2023. She was born in Bellmore, NY to Andrew and Elizabeth (Luebbers) Yager (both predeceased). Janet resided in Watermill, NY for many years with her husband, Daniel, and family before moving to Vero Beach, FL.
Janet worked for years at a Long Island restaurant where she met her husband Daniel. When she was not busy helping Dan run Fairway Restaurant Cafe on the Green and catering parties, she could be found in the garden, practicing yoga, cooking for family and friends, or helping a neighbor. Most of all, Janet was a loving mother and a dedicated wife. During her life she was a very active member of Hearts of Jesus & Mary R.C. Church in Southampton, NY and Holy Cross Catholic Church in Vero Beach, FL. Janet was a devoted daughter of St. Francis de Sales Association.
Janet is survived by her loving husband, Daniel Murray; two daughters, Jill Draycott and her husband Justin of Brightwaters, NY; Erin Murray and her husband Ryan Spencer of Whitefish MT; and her special joy, granddaughter Julie Draycott. She is also survived by two brothers, Ken Yager, and his wife Kathy; Andrew Yager and his wife Lisa; and a sister, Judy Yager.
Family and friends are welcome to attend a celebration of the Liturgy of Christian Burial that will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, March 7, 2023, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Vero Beach, FL.

Pamela Brewer, 66, of Vero Beach, Florida, passed away Friday, March 3, 2023.
Born June 19th, 1956, in Dayton, Ohio, Pamela, was a daughter of the late Samuel Christy and JoAnne Toedtman Christy.
Reared and educated in Atlanta, Georgia, she graduated from Dykes High School in 1974.
Pamela retired from Sun Aviation, Inc. after several years of service, where she was truly loved and will be missed.
She loved her dogs, enjoyed spending time at the beach, and never passed up a good flea market; but mostly she loved spending time with and spoiling her grandbabies, as that brought her true happiness.
Pamela is survived by her three sons, Donald Brewer (Ronnie), Zach Guise (Melissa), and Michael Guise (Ashley); her siblings, Pat Menard and Calvin Christy; grandchildren, William Guise, Daniel Guise, Drewrobin Guise, Asa Guise, Jackson Guise, Hunter Guise, Sawyer Stewart and Reagan Brewer; her beloved fur babies, Abby and Bella; and many other loving family and friends.
Memorial Services were held Friday, March 10, 2023, at Sun Aviation in Vero Beach, FL. She will be interred with her family in Atlanta at a later date.

Linda Jaggers Orr, 80

Linda Jaggers Orr, unexpectedly gained her angel wings on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at 80 years old.
She recently returned from a joy filled celebration in Hawaii, where she had the time of her life with her family.
Linda was born on September 19, 1942 in Little Rock, Arkansas. She was raised in Ft. Pierce, FL where she lived until going to college in Palm Beach County. While attending college, she met the love of her life Wayne Charles Orr. They soon married, traveled the world, and had an amazing 61 year marriage. They lived a life of love and adventure with their two daughters Trudy Sircy (Larry) and Karen McKee. They were blessed with six grandchildren, Michael Young II (Aimee), Christopher Young (Vienna), Kaitlyn Cline (Logan), Samuel Young, Logan McKee, Taylor McKee and seven great-grandchildren; Michael Young III, Aubrie Young, Ella Young, Julie Young, Charlee Young, Parker Young and Camden Cline.
Throughout her life Linda was known for her kindness and generosity as well as her love for literature and learning. Linda’s greatest love was her family. She built a home that remains the core foundation of everyone’s memories. Memories of home cooked meals, love and laughter.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents Alton Jaggers and Gladys Jaggers. Linda did not wish to have a service but instead she wanted a private memorial with her immediate family.

Michael (Mike) Lawrence Balint, 94, Vero Beach
July 9, 1928 – March 16, 2023
Michael (Mike) Lawrence Balint of Vero Beach, FL was born on July 9, 1928 in Ottawa, Illinois, the son of Michael and Agnes Balint who were immigrants from Hungary. He joined the Navy in 1944 and served four years with another five years in the Naval Reserves. Mike received a Certificate in Foreign Studies from the Instituto Technologico y de Estudios Superios in Mexico in 1948. He then attended the University of Illinois at Champaign Urbana and graduated in 1952 with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting.
Mike joined the accounting firm of Haskins & Sells after graduation in 1952 and transferred to the Los Angeles office in 1954 as an audit staff manager. He was named Partner in 1967 and transferred to the New York City office in 1975. The firm later became Deloitte & Touche from where he retired in 1995. However, Mike consulted for the firm for three more years. He was one of the oldest living retired partners.
He married Julia Marie Sullivan on August 3, 1962 in Los Angeles, CA and they lived in Sherman Oaks with their two daughters until 1975. They moved to Greenwich, CT where they lived for 30 years with another 10 years in Stamford, CT until permanently retiring in Vero Beach.
Mike was a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Beta Gamma Sigma, Beta Alpha Psi, and Alpha Kappa Psi Clubs; The Jonathan Club (Los Angeles, CA), Burning Tree County Club (Greenwich, CT), the Princeton Club (New York, NY), Grand Harbor Club and Oak Harbor Clubs (Vero Beach, FL). He enjoyed golf, swimming, reading, bridge and history.
He is survived by his wife, Marie, as well as his daughters Melissa Balint Nigro (Joseph) of Palm Beach Gardens, FL and Maureen Balint Coudert (Paul) of Fairfield, CT. He is also survived by his grandsons, Michael, Justin and Mason Coudert. He was predeceased by his parents and his sisters Elizabeth Stone and Mary Less.
A funeral mass will be held at 11am on March 22, 2023 at St. Helen Catholic Church in Vero Beach.

Louis Abraham, 87, Barefoot Bay
June 4, 1935 – March 13, 2023
On Monday, March 13, 2023, Louis Abraham, loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather passed away at the age of 87.
Louis was preceded in death by the love of his life, Auguste, wife of 61 years. Their love story started in Germany while Louis was serving our country in the Army.
Louis is survived by daughter Alica (Jim) DeGarmo, sons Louis (Brenda) Abraham, and Robert (Diane) Abraham. Grandchildren Joshua (Tara) Capes, Krystal (Jamie) Burrows, and Robert (Tiffany) Abraham. 6 Great grandchildren, Talon and Karlie Capes, Ella, Jordon, and Jayla Burrows, and Harper Abraham.
He enjoyed a successful career in the banking industry, finally retiring from Minerva Bank of Ohio Banking Corp. He held memberships to the Moose, the Oriels, and the Eagles. In Carrollton, Ohio where he raised his family he was always involved in his community. He coached little league and started the Boys and Girls Club Chapter in that area. He was the Commodore of the Atwood Yacht Club, being the only commodore to be elected by the people and not appointed. In Barefoot Bay, Florida where he and Auguste resided the last 20 years, Louis was involved in the Little Theater and was horseshoe champion many years running.
Louis leaves a huge hole in the hearts of his family and friends who were always entertained by his stories, jokes, and beautiful singing voice. He blessed many people with singing the National Anthem at events, country music, and Frank Sinatra songs. At the end of the day, he truly “Did it his way”.

Beverly Magelaner, 88, Vero Beach

Beverly Magelaner, 88 of Vero Beach FL passed away on March 17, 2023 surrounded by her family at home.
Beverly was born on April 17,1934. She grew up in Wethersfield CT. Bev Studied to be an administrative assistant and graduated from Morse School of Business in 1952.
Beverly married her husband Louis Magelaner In 1955. Together they recently celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary. They often would say “they were just getting to know each other.”
Beverly went on to have 4 children Tom, Marianne, Pam and Lisa. She dedicated her life to raising her family. She was a Sunday school teacher, girl scout leader and cub scout leader. She never missed a special date or children’s event.
Bev was incredibly creative. Whether writing stories, sewing her daughter’s wedding dresses, knitting or making crafts for local charities; her creative talents were always impressive.
Once retired Bev and her husband moved to Brewster MA where her talents as a gardener shone. She was a member of the Brewster Garden Club. Her spectacular gardens were featured in the annual Cape Cod Garden Tour. Bev was also an avid fisherman. She was known by family and friends as “The Lady of the Lake”.
Bev and her husband moved to Sea Oaks Community in 1999. There they both enjoyed playing tennis with many friends. Together they also cruised many countries enjoying each other, the beautiful scenery and other cultures of the world.
Beverly is survived by her husband Louis Magelaner of Vero Beach; Her brother Conrad Winalski and wife Eleanor of Cromwell CT; her son Thomas Magelaner and wife Janet of Uniontown Ohio; daughter Marianne Valle and husband Al of Fairhaven MA; daughter Pamela Neary and husband Doug of South Windsor CT; daughter Lisa Magelaner of Brewster MA.
She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren Alyssa Valle, Brian Valle, Jessica Magelaner, Kate Magelaner, Courtney Dickerson, Colin Dickerson, Colin Neary.
She was most proud to say she was Great Nana to her beloved only great grandson Archie Dickerson who brought her immense joy in her last year.
Beverly will be missed by her family and friends but will always be remembered and cherished for her kind and loving spirit.
The family is exceptionally grateful for the care provided by Dr Howard Tee and his staff.

Donald Stephen VanEmburgh, 92, Vero Beach

Donald Stephen VanEmburgh, 92, passed away at his home in Vero Beach, FL, on February 28, 2023. Don was born in Wallingford, CT, on October 28, 1930, the son of Mae Alice (Deignan) and S. (Stephen) Lloyd Van Emburgh.
After graduating from Lyman Hall in 1948, he met the love of his life, Ilene (May) Van Emburgh, at a Polish dance and were married in 1955. He was a resident of Meriden for almost 70 years, employed at John Hancock Life Insurance and American Cyanamid, and a parishioner of St. Joseph Church.
Don had a beautiful tenor voice, singing with the Lyman Hall and St. Joseph choirs. Some of his hobbies included; watching UConn basketball, playing softball, painting, traveling, tag sales and gardening. He loved a good meal and scotch and had a great sense of humor. Besides his wife of almost 68 years, Don will be lovingly remembered by his four children and their spouses: Karen Parlato of Vero Beach, FL; Donald Van Emburgh, Jr., (Susan Tempe) of Stephentown, NY; Linda Bafumi (Victor) of Meriden; and Gale Rita (Barry), also of Meriden; his ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He is survived by several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his two brothers, Lloyd Van Emburgh, James Van Emburgh (infant), and his sister, Dorothy Perkins.
A memorial service will be held in Vero Beach, FL. Burial will be private at a later date at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Meriden.

Joan Linda Bilger, 75, Vero Beach
April 15, 1947 – March 13, 2023
Joan Linda Bilger, 75, of Vero Beach, FL, passed away on March 13, 2023 after a 35 day battle with a very aggressive Liver/Bile Duct Cancer.
Joan was born on April 15,1947, and was the daughter of John and Florence (Lavalle) Gromko, in Hartford, CT. After Joan graduated from the Norwich Free Academy in Norwich, CT in 1965, she went on to take the Executive Secretarial Course at Morse College in Hartford, CT.
After satisfactorily completing the Executive Secretarial Course in 1967, she started her first job at the United States Submarine Base Hospital as a Medical Transcriber, kickstarting a 34 year career with various agencies of the United States Government, Department of Defense in several States. She won many awards for her excellent performance.
In 1971, Joan met Glenn Bilger at their mutual friend’s wedding,they got married on June 23, 1973 after Glenn got out of the US Navy and continued their lifetime of happiness and love for over 50 years.
In 2002, Joan retired and spent her time as an artist painting in Water Color and Acrylics, Card Making, Ceramics, Basket Decorating, and sewing potholders to the tops of towels to hang on the oven door in the kitchen to dry your hands when cooking. Joan was also an associate member of the United States Submarine Veterans Mid-Atlantic Base where she served as Secretary for a number of years; a member of the VFW Auxiliary; a member of the American Legion Auxiliary; and was a licensed amateur radio operator, KI4FYN.
Joan was predeceased by her father, John Gromko, her mother, Florence(Lavalle) Gromko Johnson, and her cousin, Elaine McGuiness who helped guide and support her after her father passed away when Joan was 13. She is survived by her husband, Glenn, and her twin brother, John Gromko.
A Visitation will be held at St John of the Cross Catholic Church on Thursday, March 23, 2023 between 10:00 am to 11:00 am; a Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 am with Fr. Michael Martin Celebrating. A reception in the Parish Hall will follow the Mass.
For those unable to attend, the mass will be live-streamed. A link will be provided here in the obituary two days prior to services.

Mr. Morgan honorably served his country in The United States Navy earning both The American Theatre Medal and Victory Medal.
He is survived by his daughter Angela Morgan as well as his sons John Morgan Jr. and Vincent Morgan.

William “Bill” Joseph Wresilo, 84
On Friday, March 3, William “Bill” Joseph Wresilo, a beloved father, passed away. He was eighty-four years old. Born to Stephanie and Kazimierz Wresilo in Wola Luzanska, Poland in 1938. He spent the first years of his life in Germany during World War II. When he was ten years of age, he emigrated to the United States of America through New York. His maternal grandfather was supposed to pick his family up from Ellis Island, but they couldn’t find him after they were processed. It was snowing and cold, and a local family took pity on them and bought them a meal in a restaurant, and by pure chance, my great-grandfather found them in the restaurant and took them to his home in Fall River, Massachusetts. (There was so much wonder in his voice as he would tell this story. He would describe what it was like to see the Statue of Liberty, how tall the buildings were, how he ate in a “real” restaurant, how good ice cream tasted, and how happy he was to see his great-grandfather (whom he had a great admiration for, for the remainder of his life)!
Bill described himself as a mischievous youth. One day while he was walking to school, he lit a firecracker. He didn’t see the nun from his school fast approaching him until it was too late. He wrapped his hand around the firecracker and put his hand into his pants pocket for fear that the nun would punish him. He wasn’t caught, but he did blow a hole through his pants. He doesn’t even remember if his hand hurt as he greatly feared the nun’s punishment.
He joined the United States Air Force in 1955 one day after his birthday. He married, and is survived by, Natalie Dulak, and six of their five children: Billy Wresilo, his wife Doreen, Greg Wresilo, his ex-wife Michele, Kathie Carfora, her husband Dino, Chrissy Ferrante, her husband Dominic, and Suzy Wresilo. Their son John was born premature and sadly did not survive. They have fifteen beautiful grandchildren and two even more beautiful great-grandchildren. Bill is also survived by his brother Casimir Wresilo, and his daughter with his late wife M. Halina, Cassandra; and, his late sister Josephine and her late husband John Ortowski’s children Maryanne Huffman, and Mark Ortowski, and their children.
He completed training requirements in the State of Florida Guardian Ad Litem Program to represent the best interest of abused and neglected children in judicial court proceedings. He also mentored children in the R.W. Blake Academy located in Lakeland, Florida.
Bill was best known for his love of the warmth of the sun, cigarettes, sports, reading, and music. A few of his favorites include Roy Orbison, Linda Rondstadt and Andrea Bocelli, as well as various violin concertos, and string symphonies. He loved his family dearly; and was especially devoted to his grandchild, Christopher.
There will be a “celebration of life” mass at Nichols United Methodist Church located at 35 Shelton Road, Trumbull, Connecticut on Saturday, the 18th of March, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. followed by a reception at the hall underneath Saint Mary’s Ukranian Orthodox Church located at 10 Oakwood Street, Bridgeport, Connecticut. In lieu of giving flowers, the family asks that those who are able instead make a donation to Alzheimer’s in his name.
