The Grass Roots, a popular band from the 1960s, will perform Thursday, March 2, at the Emerson Center in Vero Beach. The Grass Roots originated as studio session musicians. But time and tide took them to the surface of pop, folk and big, brassy rock. Some of their iconic songs include “Let’s Live for Today,” “Temptation Eyes” and “Midnight Confessions.” The concert begins 7 p.m. at the Emerson Center, 1590 27th Ave., Vero Beach. Indian River County Habitat for Humanity will hold “Women Build” this weekend. It begins Friday with a “Hammers and High Heels” kickoff reception. The First Friday Gallery Stroll will be held 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, March 3, in the Downtown Vero Beach Arts District. The Art Gallery Stroll takes you along 14th Avenue where you can explore galleries and shops, or relax in area restaurants or cafes. Saint Edward’s School will hold its 31st annual Trunk Show this weekend. There will be more than 50 vendors from across the country showing unique items for home as well as beautiful clothing and accessories for men, women and children. The Trunk Show begins with a cocktail and hors d’oeuvres kick-off party 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, March 3. Admission to the party is $50 in advance or $60 at the door. A ticket to the kick-off party also includes admission to the Trunk Show itself but, more importantly, it gives you first crack at all the vendors. Enjoy a fabulous evening while helping to save your own piece of the earth at the “Saving Paradise Gala.” The gala both celebrates and raises funds for the Pelican Island Audubon Society, which has the mission to preserve and protect the flora and fauna as well as the natural environments of Indian River County.
