Riverside Theatre for Kids presents the family classic Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer Jr.
(Vero Beach, FL) Riverside Theatre for Kids presents a live performance of the classic television musical, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, with performances December 2 & 3, 2022 on the Stark Stage.
Based on the animated television special “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” adapted from the story by Robert L. May and songs by Johnny Marks, this hour-long stage show features a script adaptation by Robert Penola.
“We’re excited to be presenting this family classic live on stage,” said Kevin Quillinan, Director of this production and Director of Riverside Theatre Education. “With all of the treasured songs we know and love, our production will feature 30 talented young actors on stage who will bring this beloved story to life.”
Because of his shiny nose, Rudolph doesn’t feel like he belongs in Christmastown and sets off to find a place that accepts him. Along his journey, he encounters fellow misfits, only to realize that home is where he has belonged the whole time. When a storm threatens to keep Santa’s sleigh from taking flight, it’s up to Rudolph to save Christmas! It’s an adventure that teaches us that what makes you different can be what makes you special.
The original television special first aired on December 6, 1964 and has aired at least once a year since then. The stop motion animation special narrated by Burl Ives is the longest continuously running Christmas TV special in the United States. For its 50th Anniversary in 2014, the United States Postal Service issued a series of postage stamps featuring Rudolph.
