VERO BEACH — A man in his mid-50’s was injured after being struck by a pickup truck Thursday afternoon, fire rescue crews said. The man was taken to a hospital. An update on his condition was not immediately available.
The crash happened about 2:20 p.m. at the 14th Avenue and 20th Street intersection, according to the Vero Beach Police Department. The man was taken by ambulance to HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital in Fort Pierce, Indian River County Fire Rescue Bureau Chief Richard Marini said.
It was unclear if the man was walking or on a bicycle.
Police briefly closed the roadway in the immediate area to investigate the collision. The crash remains under investigation.
