Undercover probe leads to trafficking fentanyl arrest

VERO BEACH — A 32-year-old man is awaiting his arraignment for a variety of felony drug charges – including trafficking fentanyl – connected to an undercover probe that happened last month.

Alexander Joseph Frazier, of the 1800 block of 23rd Avenue, Vero Beach, was charged with trafficking fentanyl, possession of methamphetamine, possession of cocaine, possession of alprazolam, possession of amphetamines, possession of buprenorphine, possession of marijuana with intent to sell and use or possession of drug paraphernalia. Frazier was also charged with sale, delivery or possession with intent to sell or deliver fentanyl and sale, delivery or possession with intent to sell or deliver cocaine within 1,000 feet of a park community center or recreational facility.

Frazier was held Monday at the Indian River County Jail on $140, 500 bond.

Vero Beach Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit conducted the narcotics investigation in September. Undercover detectives purchased several fentanyl packages from a man later identified as Frazier, police said.

The police department’s critical response team searched Frazier’s home about 2 p.m. Oct. 7. Detectives found the following items in the residence:

  • 25 grams of fentanyl
  • 1.2 grams of methamphetamine
  • 1.4 grams of Cocaine
  • About 100 various Pills (some unidentified)
  • About 3.5 pounds of marijuana
  • Several jars containing THC wax
  • 2 grams of suspected psilocybin (mushrooms)

“This is an ongoing investigation,” police officials said in a statement. “Additional charges may be filed pending lab results.”

Frazier was arrested and booked into the county jail. Frazier has an arraignment at 8:45 a.m. Dec. 2, court records show.
