Humane Society Receives Six Beagles From Mass Breeding Facility –
4,000 beagles were bound for animal testing labs
(Vero Beach, Florida) – The Humane Society of the United States, with support from many shelter and rescue partners, removed approximately 4,000 beagles from a mass breeding facility in Virginia, that received multiple violations for issues such as inadequate veterinary care and insufficient food. Many of these dogs were bound for animal testing laboratories across the country.
More than 100 shelters and rescues all over the country willingly opened their doors to these dogs, including eleven Florida Shelters!
The Humane Society of Vero Beach & Indian River County (HSVB) eagerly took in six beagles earlier this week, and are being assessed by our veterinarian and medical team.
“I am thrilled that we had the opportunity to help assist these dogs come to Vero Beach to find their new forever homes. We are so incredibly happy that these sweet dogs will have a second chance at a happy and healthy life in our pet-loving community, states Kate Meghji, Humane Society’s Chief Executive Officer.
