Ruth Silverman, 92, Greenacres

July 12, 1930 – July 30, 2022

Ruth Silverman passed away Saturday, July 30th, after a brief illness, at the age of 92 in Vero Beach, FL.

Ruth was born to Frieda and Irving Kohansky in Brooklyn, New York. She was predeceased by Alfred Silverman, her loving husband of 57 years. She lived in Waterbury, CT for 28 years and was an executive secretary at Republican-American newspaper for 12 years.

She had resided in Greenacres, FL, retiring from her position with Temple Beth Tikvah at the age of 86.

Ruth is survived by a sister, Marilyn Goodman, Tamarac, FL, three children, Debra (Silverman) and Jeffrey Rapoport, Vero Beach, David, and Jayne (Muroff) Silverman, Dedham, ME, Howard Silverman, Bridgewater, CT, and four grandchildren, Jordan Rapoport, Austin, Samantha (Rapoport) Bart and her husband, Daniel, Chicago, Casey (Silverman) Harris and her husband Jonathan, New Providence, NJ, and Dr. Michael Silverman, Atlanta, and by her beloved companion, Rudolpho Gonzalez, Port St. Lucie, FL.

She was a past member of B’Nai Shalom Synagogue, Waterbury, CT.

Theresa L. Bullard, 52, Ruskin

April 3, 1970 – July 29, 2022

Theresa L. Bullard, 52, of Ruskin, Florida passed away Friday July 29, 2022 at Cleveland Clinic – Indian River Hospital in Vero Beach.

Theresa was born in Ruskin, Florida and moved to Vero Beach 24 years ago from her place of birth to start a new journey with her family.

She had been in the food services and hospitality industries having worked for many years at Winn-Dixie and most recently at Popeye’s.

Survivors include her husband Robert C. Bullard of Vero Beach, son Daniel (Ashley) Bullard and daughter Rebecca Bullard both of Vero Beach, father Horace Johnson and brother Horace Johnson Jr. both of Georgia, and four grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her mother June Johnson and a sister Tammy Rothlisberger.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the family.

A gathering time to celebrate her life will take place at a later date.

Katherine Hwoschinsky, 101, Vero Beach

February 6, 1921 – July 29, 2022

Katherine Hwoschinsky Rose died July 29, 2022 in Vero Beach, FL.  She was born in New York City on February 6, 1921. She grew up in Greenwich, CT and Kennebunk Port, ME.

She attended Greenwich Academy, St. Catherine’s School in Richmond, VA and Katherine Gibbs School in New York City.

Katherine was married in 1942 to her husband, Stanley H. Rose, Jr. who served as Director of Engineering for Union Carbide Chemical Company.  They lived in Charleston, WV until moving to Vero Beach in 1991.  In Charleston, she was active in the Junior League and the Garden Club of America, where she won many prestigious awards. She was also active in numerous volunteer activities at the Charleston Area Medical Center including extensive time assisting in the recovery rooms. She was a member of Edgewood Country Club, where she was an active tennis player.

In Vero Beach, she has been active in the McKee Botanical Gardens and a member of the Riomar Country Club.

She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Karen, and two grandchildren, Christopher and Whitney.

A much-loved daughter, Frances, died in 1973. Her parents Basil and Frances from Greenwich, CT predeceased her.  Her father was an officer on Czar Nichol’ Imperial Yacht and was close to the royal family prior to their death during the Russian Revolution.  After the Russian Revolution, he came to the US where he became a senior international officer of Manufacturers Hanover Trust Bank. He was related to two Russian Czars.

Katherine was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Allison Frances Rose of Atlanta in 2006. Her brothers, Paul and Basil died in 2021. Her son Stanley “Sandy” H. Rose, III passed away on July 8, 2021.

A private family interment will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2022 at 4pm at St. Augustine’s Episcopal Church.

A special thank you goes to the wonderful care she received from Teresa Stine and all her staff.  They treated her with love and kindness.

John Alan Blaga, 82, Sebastian

February 26, 1940 – August 1, 2022

John Alan Blaga beloved husband of Patricia for 60 years, was the son of George S. and June J. Blaga, died on August 1, 2022.   John was born February 26, 1940, in Detriot, Michigan, and was the second of four children, the oldest child being Sandra Helen Blaga (Deremo).  His siblings also include Mary Jo Blaga (Strietelmeier) and Jeffrey James Blaga. He is survived by Mary Jo and Jeffrey, and eight nieces and nephews.

In 1945 John moved to Springfield, Ohio, and later to Lawrenceburg, Indiana, where he attended grade school.  The family then moved to Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1954 where he attended Western Hills High school, graduating in the class of 1958.  John was on the debate team and loved playing basketball and working at his father’s garage. He attended the University of Cincinnati for one year until he went into the United States Navy in May of 1959.  His travels took him all around the world while on his tours of duty.

John’s service to his country had a strong and profound impact on his life.  He was in the Navy during the Cuban Missile Crisis and the Vietnam War.  John achieved the rank of 2nd Class Aviation Ordnanceman, and was stationed aboard the U.S.S. Forrestal, CVA 59, and the U.S.S. Enterprise, CVN 65. He had the distinct honor of serving aboard the U.S.S. Forrestal with John McCain.

While in the service and stationed in Sanford, Florida, he met his future wife, Patricia Ann De Rosa.  Pat was a resident of Longwood, Florida, and in 1962 they were united in marriage in Sanford. Upon the completion of his service in the Navy, he returned to Cincinnati where he began working for his father at Hamco Ford.  John succeeded his father in the dealership and opened West Hills Ford as a third generation Ford Dealer. He was an accomplished Dealer and the business ranked among the most successful in the tri-state area.

John’s passion for the water followed to Cincinnati where he and Pat owned a variety of boats through the years, traveling to many inland waterways and meeting many new people.  Throughout his life and to all family members and friends alike, he was affectionately called “Big John.”

He and his wife left Cincinnati in 1997 and retired to Sebastian, Florida. John was a devoted lifetime Elder at First Presbyterian Church in Sebastian.  His titles and responsibilities in the church were many and he deeply loved his church family. Vera Nelly Verdelotti (Doyle), 89, Sebastian

June 17, 1933 – July 28, 2022

Vera Nelly Verdelotti (Doyle) 89 of Sebastian, Florida passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday July 28, 2022.

Vera had a great love for all animals, a great sense of humor, and very generous spirt. Vera spent most of her career working for different departments of the Canadian Government until she retired. Vera joined the Royal Canadian Air Force after finishing high school where she spent four years and left with an Honorable Discharge. She served her country well.

Vera is survived by her son Wayne (Hurd); daughter-in-law Jennifer (Hurd); grandchildren Brittney (Barry), Dyllan (Hurd), Logan (Hurd), and Aidan (Hurd); sisters Molly (Turpin) Minetta (Gratton) and Wanda (Wiseback); and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband Ray Verdelotti in 1997; her brothers Basil, Gerald, George, and Mick; and sisters Elaine and Effie.

Evelyn Laverne Votrobek, 87

February 23, 1935 – July 31, 2022

Evelyn Laverne Votrobek, 87, passed away on July 31st, 2022.

She was the widow of Carl Botrobek.  They shared 58 years together.
She was born in Ocoee, Florida to Leo and Waudie Harrell.  She was a graduate of Vero Beach High School and business owner of East Coast Trenching for numerous years.
She was a member of the Cowboy Church of Limestone County.  She will always be remembered as a sweet and kind woman.
She is survived by her three children; Marilynn (Jim) Sanderson, Laura Goble, and Carl “Alan” Votrobek.  She has seven grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held at a later date.

Everett Eugene Seymour, 89, Barefoot Bay

June 9, 1933 – July 29, 2022

Everett Eugene Seymour, 89, passed away on Friday July 29, 2022 peacefully in the comfort of his own home surrounded by loved ones. Born in New York, Gene resided in many states including Texas, Kentucky, and Florida. He spent the last 15 years as a resident of Barefoot Bay.

Gene had a beautiful and full life. He worked for IBM for 32 years. After he retired, he then worked for Wells Fargo for an additional 10 years. In his early years, Gene also served our nation in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. During his travels, Gene was able to see the world and even learn some German and Dutch, which obviously inspired his collection of German mugs. Gene was a well respected man in both his military life and career. He was a dedicated family man. He donated to many charities and had a smile that could light up a room.
He was survived by his wife Suzanne Seymour, his two sons Mark and Gary Seymour, his step children Francine Subero and Wayne Worchel, grandchildren Austin, Hailey, Andrea, Alexander, Derrick and Jennifer, and great-grandchildren.
A private celebration of his life will be held for his family at a later date, and his final resting place will be at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery.
