INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Firefighters on Saturday were still monitoring a fully contained brush fire that ignited the previous day, officials said. No injuries were reported, and no homes were threatened from the blaze.

The fire remained at 60 acres on Saturday at St. Sebastian River Preserve State Park, Indian River County Fire Rescue Assistant Chief David Rattray said. The blaze originated Friday afternoon in the southwest part of the park located north of County Road 512 and west of Interstate 95.

The park stretches from southern Brevard County to northern Indian River County. Florida Forest Service crews used bulldozers to plow around the flames so they don’t spread.

The cause of the brush fire was unknown, Rattray said.
