July 14, 2022, VERO BEACH – The First Presbyterian Youth String Orchestra will present a Folk & Americana Concert on Sunday, August 7, 2022, at 4:00pm in the sanctuary at First Presbyterian Church, 520 Royal Palm Boulevard, Vero Beach. Admission is free; donations will be accepted during the performance and also online via the church’s website. The suggested donation per person is $10.
The Youth Strings Orchestra at First Presbyterian has become well-known in the Vero Beach Community as a high-quality youth orchestra with a history of award-winning performances and tours. Most recently, they returned from a music tour and mission trip to the Florida Keys. Over the course of four days the group, accompanied by the Youth Choir and Youth Winds & Percussion ensembles, gave performances at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Miami as well as The Sanctuary Church in Ft. Lauderdale. While in Marathon, they participated in a service project helping to clean up the Crane Point Nature Reserve. In the past, the Youth Orchestra has toured through the State of Colorado and won first place awards in competitions at Disney World and Universal Studios.
The August 7th concert, under the direction of Dr. Jacob Craig, will feature Suite for String Orchestra by John Rutter, along with selections of American Folk favorites such as The Entertainer, Maple Leaf Rag, Orange Blossom Special, and even The Devil Went Down to Georgia. This fun and exciting performance will feature youth soloists as well as string quartet arrangements and is sure to have the audience clapping hands and stomping feet!
Donations will be accepted via a bucket upon entering the sanctuary, or, concertgoers may choose to watch the performance via livestream on the church’s website, www.firstpresvero.org, and also donate via the “Giving” section on their website. If donating online, please choose “all other gifts” in the dropdown and write “String Orchestra” in the memo section.
The FPC Orchestra performs during services on Sundays at First Presbyterian Church, 520 Royal Palm Boulevard, Vero Beach. During special performances, the String Orchestra is joined by professional wind and percussion musicians from throughout the Treasure Coast. This performance will feature the String Orchestra only.
