Sandra Maria Reinoso, 44, of the 300 block of Key Lime Square, Vero Beach, was charged with aggravated assault and driving under the influence with property damage or personal injury. Reinoso was released July 9 from the Indian River County Jail on $6,000 bond.

It was unclear if Reinoso was taken to the hospital after the wreck. Reinoso’s blood-alcohol content level samples were .239 and .230, more than three times the legal limit, officials said.

Indian River County sheriff’s deputies responded to the crash about 8 a.m. Friday near The Majestic Theatre in the 900 block of 14th Lane in Vero Beach. Deputies found Reinoso – who they said had a slurred speech, bloodshot eyes and appeared intoxicated – in the parking lot.

Deputies later learned Reinoso removed the Mercedes’ vehicle tag and put it in her purse, reports show. Deputies spoke to Reinoso’s husband who said the two were going through a divorce.

The man said Reinoso saw him driving his blue Subaru in the parking lot of the movie theatre earlier. Reinoso then drove her Mercedes at a high rate of speed toward the Subaru, almost causing a head-on collision, reports show.

The man told deputies he stopped his Subaru to avoid a crash. Reinoso and the man briefly argued before he drove off to leave the parking lot at the west entrance.

The man said he heard Reinoso accelerate again toward the back of his Subaru, reports show. The man was able to swerve his Subaru out of the path of the Mercedes.

Deputies said Reinoso lost control of the Mercedes and struck a palm tree. Deputies saw skid marks in the roadway, reports show.

Deputies arrested Reinoso and booked her into the county jail. Reinoso has an arraignment at 8:45 a.m. Aug. 19, court records show.
