The Vero Beach Quilt Guild

VERO BEACH  The Vero Beach Quilt Guild, a non profit organization, has a tradition of generosity & support for many non-profit organizations in Indian River County.

The VBQG was able to host this year, its delayed 2021 Quilt Show in January 2022 at the Indian River Fairgrounds that generated Dollars to give back to the Indian River Community.

In the past, the Vero Beach Quilt Show has benefitted:

  1. In 2019, For the Love of Paws in Fellsmere
  2. In 2017, The Veterans Council
  3. In 2015, Mended Hearts to support heart patients.

This year,  the Vero Beach Lifeguard Association was chosen by the VBQG as their designated charity to assist with helping to Build a Life Guard Station at Humiston Park.  Last year, one of the Vero Beach Quilt Members was saved by a VB Life Guard at Jaycee Beach.

Vero Beach Lifeguard Association is a non-profit organization that strives to keep our beaches safe by:

  1. Supplying needed equipment to Vero Beach lifeguards;
  2. Conducting Water Safety classes; and
  3. Keeping the public and community leaders informed about local surf conditions, beach attendance, aquatic life and water rescues.

It is with gratitude that the Vero Beach Quilt Guild presented Patrick Sullivan of VBLA with this check for $2,500.

Guild members quilted and sewed hundreds of items to be sold in the Charity Booth at the Quilt Show.  At the May 5th Quilt Guild meeting a check for $2500 was presented to Patrick Sullivan of the Vero Beach Life Guard Association.

The Quilt Show theme was “Treasures of the Treasure Coast”.  One hundred twenty quilts were displayed for over 750 visitors to enjoy.  And to highlight the theme this Guild took on a “Turtle Challenge” to create 20”x20” wall hangings with at least one turtle somewhere on the wall hanging.  Twenty-nine quilters participated in the “Turtle Challenge.” The winner was chosen by the Vero Beach Lifeguard Association.

Vero Beach Quilt Guild meets every Thursday from 9:30-noon at St. Augustine of Canterbury Episcopal Church Parish Hall, 475 43rd Ave., Vero Beach, FL  32968.  For additional information, contact Linda Jackson, President at 303-506-0456 or lindajjackson2@gmail.com
