‘Once Upon an Orchestra’ brings fairy tale to life this Saturday at Vero Beach Art Museum!

Join us this Saturday for Once Upon an Orchestra at 12:30pm and 1:30pm at the Vero Beach Museum of Art! The event is FREE and will take place during the 2022 Children’s Art Festival.

An enchanting story will come to life when players from the Space Coast Symphony Orchestra present another installment of the popular Once Upon an Orchestra musical series for young visitors at 12:30 PM and 1:30 PM on Saturday, April 30 at the Vero Beach Museum of Art, 3001 Riverside Park Drive in Vero Beach.

Designed for preschool and kindergarten aged children, the free 45-minute story time will feature members of the clarinet family. Accompanied by narration from conductor, Aaron Collins, the concert will feature the world premiere of Vero Beach composer, R. Michael Daugherty’s The Golden Goose.  The Golden Goose tells the story of a young man who is called a “simpleton” and considered by his family to be worthless. One day, he goes to the woods to cut down a tree and comes across an elderly man who asks for food. The boy offers the man all he has and in return, the man reveals to him the location of a golden goose. The entire program will entertain and educate kids about various instruments in the clarinet family. Afterwards, children may meet the musicians, who are happy to pose for photos with the young audience members.

Space Coast Symphony Orchestra Conductor and Artistic Director, Aaron T. Collins is delighted to present the Once Upon an Orchestra concerts for kids by way of delightful stories. Collins is a past recipient of the Richard A. Stark Award for cultural leadership from the Cultural Council of Indian River County.

“These concerts at the Vero Beach Museum of Art will be fun for everybody, said Collins. “Both children and adults enjoy a good story and good music!”
