FPRA Awards Brunch winners announced

Port St. Lucie, FL. —Over 60 FPRA members and guests gathered at the lovely Port St. Lucie Botanical Gardens on a picture-perfect Tuesday morning for our FPRA Treasure Coast Chapter Awards Brunch, Grower Greater Together, on April 26th, from 10 AM until 12.  The event was emceed by City of Port St. Lucie Councilwoman Stephanie Morgan and Chapter President Sue-Ellen Sanders and featured guest speaker Doreen Poreba, talking about developing a creative mindset.

Treasure Coast Image Awards were presented to two PR projects. In the category for Public Service, an Image Award and Judges Award were presented to: The City of Port St. Lucie for the Higher-Paying Jobs for PSL Referendum educational campaign. In the category for Promotional/Marketing, an Award of Distinction and Judges Award were presented to: Jennifer Trefelner, APR, CPRC for Diocese of Palm Beach’s Successful Promotional/Marketing Campaign to Launch the Diocesan Services Appeal.

The Treasure Coast Chapter was thrilled to also recognize 30 Communicator of the Year nominees, each of whom work tirelessly to promote their organization and community, without seeking credit for doing so. The winners were announced for each of 7 categories at the Brunch.

Gary Porter, Treasure Coast Food Bank – Communicator of the Year Community for Service Through Non Profit, Nick Samuel, Vero News and 32963 Publications – Communicator of the Year for Community Service Through Business, Clint Sperber, Department of Health, St. Lucie County – Communicator of the Year for Community Service Through Government, Stacey Carter, St. Lucie Fire District & Maureen Kenyon, City of Port St. Lucie – Communicator of the Year for Public Relations Through Technology, Marie O’Brien, Moonshot Movement – Communicator of the Year for Public Relations Through Mentoring and Kristine Erice-Saxton, Baron Academy for Differently-Abled – Communicator of the Year for promoting Diversity & Inclusion.

The Treasure Coast Chapter is one of 15 FPRA chapters across the state of Florida. There are over a thousand members in the Florida Public Relations Association, who come from many backgrounds–in private and public corporations, government entities, non-profit organizations and agencies – but we all share a common goal of enhancing the public relations profession in Florida through ethical and standardized best practices.

Our Treasure Coast Chapter meets on the Third Thursday of the month at IRSC’s Kight Center from 8:30-10 AM, except when there’s a special event, like this month awards brunch. Our next meeting is May 19 and features an intro to market research via surveys, presented by Gregory Kohs, Research Biz founder. Guests and new members are welcomed at every meeting.
