David Allen Perry Jr., 89, Vero Beach
March 09, 1933 – April 24, 2022
David Allen Perry Jr. of Vero Beach, FL passed away at home on Sunday, April 24th at the age of 89, surrounded and guided by his family and loved ones. Born in Cambridge, MA on March 9th,1933, David spent most of his youth and young adult life in Weston, MA, where he loved to play pick-up football and ice hockey. He leaves behind his beloved wife Pamela, along with his adoring daughters Cindy Perry of Vero Beach and Susie von Rosenvinge of Groton, MA. He was predeceased by his son Peter Perry. He also leaves his brother John T Perry, his wife Jenny of Lee, MA, and his cousin, Eloise Kenney. His many loving grandchildren; Katie, her husband Roccou (Rocky) Knowles, Emily, her husband Ross and their daughter Madison Borelli, Sarah Wicks, Peter von Rosenvinge and his wife Maeve, Perry von Rosenvinge and his partner Anne King, all feel the loss of their beloved “Grampy” immensely. Additionally, he leaves behind loving nephews and niece Darren Perry and his wife Kendra of Sudbury, MA, and David and Stephen Krushwitz and Lisa Rea of Anchorage, AK.
David attended Belmont Hill School in Belmont, MA, and was a graduate of Dartmouth College. After graduating, David entered naval flight training school in Pensacola, FL. in 1955 and received his wings as a Marine fighter pilot in 1956. He went on to serve in the Marines for over 20 years, achieving the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
After receiving his wings, he took his greatest flight of faith yet and married his “long-haired bunkie”, Pamela Wicks. They have been soulmates and best friends in life for over 65 years and built a beautiful and colorful life together.
In 1964, David joined TWA, where he enjoyed a long and distinguished career, going on to become captain of both the L1011 and 747 as well as other aircraft, and eventually enjoyed his role as an instructor pilot. This path allowed him and his family to travel extensively and live around the world. It eventually took him to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, where he and his family lived for over six years. Upon returning to the States, he went on to fulfill contracts with various other airlines such as Nippon Cargo, and Tower Air. Dave rounded out his career right here in Vero Beach as an instructor Pilot for Piper Air where he cultivated many lifelong friendships with his students and staff.
David relished the time around the dinner table enjoying spirited conversation, card games, an ice-cold mojito or Yuengling, and laughter with his family and friends. An informal gathering in celebration of Dave’s life is planned for Friday, April 30th at 3:00 PM at the family home; 1810 East Sandpointe Place, Vero Beach.
The family would like to thank the VNA, who took expert care of David throughout this process. They would also like to thank Dawn Stephens in particular, whom he loved for her guidance and tender care in his final days.
His infectious laughter and wit will be missed by all who knew and loved him. As David always reminded everyone he knew, “keep the blue side up!”

William Patrick Maginn, 91, Fort Pierce
October 21, 1930 – April 24, 2022
William Patrick Maginn, 91, of Spanish Lakes Country Club Village, Fort Pierce, Florida, passed away Sunday, April 24, 2022, at his home.
Bill was born in Manhattan, New York to the late William Michael and Ellen Young Maginn. He had been a resident of Florida since 1976, coming from Bethpage, New York.
He served in the Marine Corps Reserve before enlisting in the US Army, 11th Airborne during the Korean War. Bill had served his community as a Nassau County, NY, Police Officer before retiring. Additionally, he worked endless hours doing side jobs to provide for his immediate family and assist others.
Bill was a member of St. Anastasia Catholic Church in Fort Pierce, a member of the Veteran’s Club at Spanish Lakes and the Knights of Columbus. He always enjoyed a game of tennis, pickle ball, or bocce ball, and was always ready for a round of golf. He loved people, loved to laugh, celebrate and was a friend to everyone.
Survivors include sons William R. (Janice) Maginn of Fort Pierce, Bryan Maginn (Natalie) of Deland, Timothy Maginn of Boynton Beach and John Maginn of Fort Pierce, daughters Karen Murphy of Bethpage, New York, Terry Genay (Michael) of Dallas, North Carolina, Patricia (Greg) Quinn of Glen Bernie, Maryland and Coleen Smith of Farmingdale, New York, twenty-six grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Rose A. Maginn.

The family will receive friends 4-7 PM, Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at the Strunk Funeral Home in Vero Beach. A Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate his life will be offered at 11:30 AM, Thursday, April 28, 2022 at St. Anastasia Catholic Church in Fort Pierce. Interment with military honors will begin at 10:30 AM, Friday, April 29, 2022 at South Florida National Cemetery in Lake Worth, Florida.

Doris Lorena Alford, 83
August 17, 1938 – April 25, 2022
Mrs. Doris Lorena Alford, 83, passed away April 25, 2022 in Vero Beach, FL.
She was born in Erwin, North Carolina on August 17, 1938 to the late Joseph Alfred Strickland and Lorena Elizabeth Butler Strickland.
Doris retired as a Professional Truck Driver, traveling many miles and years with her partner and husband Leon as a team moving produce and other goods.
She was a member of Faith Baptist Church, in Vero Beach and until her arthritis kept her from holding it, she spent a lot of time reading her Bible.
Survivors include son, Charles Alford and his wife Mary Ann; daughter, Wanda Faye Chadwick; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her loving husband, Leon W. Alford in 2000; one daughter, Elizabeth Ann; seven brothers and three sisters.
Services will take place at Strunk Funeral Homes & Crematory on Thursday April 28, 2022 at 2:00 PM, with Visitation beginning at 12:00 PM.
A private interment will take place at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida.

Irene Valliere Langlois, 90, Vero Beach

Irene Valliere Langlois 90, of Vero Beach, Florida died Thursday, April 21,2022 with her family by her side.
She was born on January 7th, 1932 in Quebec, Canada.
She married the late Leopold Langlois in 1956 and they moved the family to Vero Beach for a better life in 1965.
She was a registered nurse for a brief period but mainly took care of their four children, George (Bonny) Langlois, Francois (Holly Langlois), Sylvie (Gregory) Dean, and Suzanne (Greg) Leverance. Irene is also survived by 5 grandchildren, Joseph (Kaitlin) Leverance and their child Paisley Leverance, George and Veronica Leverance , Marie (Storm) Dancisin and Danielle (Brittany) Dean.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on May 7th at the St Helen Catholic Church. Interment will follow at the Crestlawn Cemetery.
