Manuel August DaSilva, 85, of Sebastian, FL, passed away Tuesday, April 12, 2022 at Vitas Hospice Facility in Rockledge, FL.
He was known as Max to all his friends and family. He was born March 12, 1937 to Francis DaSilva and Rose Christo DaSilva in Highland Park, Michigan.
He served in the Army from 1-21-1955 to 1-6-1959 and was honorably discharged as Specialist 4th class on 5-21-1962. He was retired printer and pressman.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling and billiards.
He was preceded in death by his wife Patricia Canfield DaSilva and his parents Francis and Rose DaSilva, 2 brothers, Richard DaSilva and Raymond DaSilva.
He is survived by his ex-wife Margaret Elaine Roberts DaSilva and 1 sister, Catherine DaSilva Currie, 2 sons Juan DaSilva and wife Marcia, and Brett David DaSilva and wife Jennifer. 3 step-children, Doug Carlton, Karen Foster and Sheryl Lampenin. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
He chose cremation at Strunk Funeral Home in Sebastian, FL.
There will be no formal services. Family and friends may make donations in his name to their favorite charity.

John Harbeck Flagg, 95, Vero Beach
October 14, 1926 – April 20, 2022
John Harbeck Flagg passed away peacefully of natural causes on Wednesday, April 20, 2022, at the VNA Hospice House in Vero Beach, FL. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, a highly accomplished businessman, a competitive sportsman and a respected member of his community.
Born in Bronxville, NY, John’s parents were Judge Herbert Harbeck Flagg and Loretta Cecelia Eagleton Flagg. He attended schools in Bronxville, NY, before going to the Choate School. Upon graduation, he joined the US Navy, attended Wesleyan University and then Yale University for Naval intelligence OCS training.
After graduating from Yale in 1947, John began working at Graybar Electric Co, where he would stay for his entire 45-year career. Starting in the Queens, NY, warehouse, he rose quickly in the finance and management ranks and moved 6 times: Memphis, Minneapolis, Kansas City, Denver, Miami and Tampa. During his successful career with Graybar, one of his notable accomplishments was the distribution of all electrical products to Disney World’s Magic Kingdom and Epcot. He retired as a Senior Vice President in 1992.
John then moved to Vero Beach, FL. He was a 33-year member of Riomar Country Club, Vero Beach, for which he served a term as President. He loved reading, bridge, tennis and fishing at his family summer home on Lake George, NY. He also thoroughly enjoyed international travel, visiting Africa, Europe and Mexico.
A man of deep faith and great integrity, John helped start St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Tampa, FL, was a long-time member of Church of the Cross, Ticonderoga, NY, and was an active member of Rotary throughout his career. Wanting to give back to his community after retirement, John worked for years with inmates at the Indian River County Jail, teaching literacy.
John married his hometown love, Mary Chester Moore, on December 2, 1950. They happily shared 64 years together. She predeceased him in 2014. He is survived by his three loving daughters and their husbands, Ellen & John Affel, Mary Jo and Reed Boyd and Joan and Paul Chace. In addition, he will be greatly missed by his 7 grandchildren (and their spouses), and his 8 great-grandchildren. Other survivors include his close relatives, the Flagg/Bade and Lake George Families. He leaves friends and colleagues, too numerous to note, but they all know the special place John held for them in his heart.
A celebration of John’s life will be held this summer at his camp on Lake George with a memorial service at his beloved Church of the Cross, Ticonderoga (date and time to be determined).
