Coming Up! Classical music lovers, these shows are for you!

Take advantage of the Spring season by getting out and enjoying what the community has to offer.

The Community Church of Vero Beach brings back its “Requiem for the Living” in an encore performance this Friday evening, April 15. The choral presentation the five-movement work by composer Dan Forrest is designed, in his words, to offer “a prayer for rest, traditionally for the deceased … However (they) form a narrative just as much for the living and their own struggle with pain and sorrow.” The performance features the Chamber Orchestra and Choir, featuring soprano Rachel Carter Murphy and conducted by Andrew Galuska. It begins at 7 p.m. Admission is free, but an offering will be accepted. The Community Church of Vero Beach is located at 1901 23rd St. Call 772-562-3633 or visit CCOVB.org.

Continuing in the line of classical music, the Atlantic Classical Orchestra, led by David Amado, will present “Italian Postcards,” with cellist Oliver Herbert. The program includes works by Wolf, Tchaikovsky and Mendelssohn. The ACO describes the program as featuring works which are “dazzling brilliance, and kaleidoscopic emotional range … witty and delightful … tuneful, buoyant.” The concert begins 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 20, also at the Community Church of Vero Beach (address above). Tickets start at $30. Call 772-460-0851 or visit AtlanticClassicalOrchestra.com.
